If you live in Green Bay, or close enough to call the Packers your home team, tell me what you think about the Brett Favre situation. I've been hearing what the NFL Network and the rest of the world thinks. But not much from the actual people of Green Bay and Wisconson. So tell me what you thinks up in Title Town.

He could have retired as a god, forever celebrated in the annals of Packers history. Now he's managing, in a few days, to tarnish the reputation that took him a career to build. I'm not even a Packer fan and think that it would be ridiculous for him to play with anyone else.
HOWEVER - if reports to training camp with the Packers (as I'm hearing in the rumor mill), the organization would effectively be wasting yet another year of team development by using him as their starter. They (and a lot of the fans) are probably clinging to the hope that with Brett at the helm they can get one... last... shot at the "glory days" of the Packers. It ain't gonna happen, though. The Packers have Rodgers and signed his backup - they need to move on to the future and develop the team for the post-Favre era.

I am a Packer fan, although I don't, and never have, lived near Green Bay. I'm so curious to hear from Wisconson residents because my view is really the opposite of SuperDuck's. I'm shocked that this whole thing even turned into a "thing". I would have thought as soon as Brett changed his mind there would have been partying in the streets of Green Bay! So what he changed his mind. Like nobody else has ever waffled on a major decision like that. If he was pressured to make a decision before he was ready, that should be justification enough.
IMO, the Packers have the best chance to win, make the playoffs, and go to another Super Bowl with Favre. Not Aaron Rodgers, or anyone else.
Brett took them to the NFC championship game last year. He broke several records, and had a great year. He's still in good physical condition to play. And he's Brett Favre! So why why why why why why why wouldn't the head office in Green Bay want him? Answer me that! At this point it would almost please me to see him play for the Vikings. That would be a great opening day for Mr. Rodgers.

| | | | Well he ain't goin to the vikes. They already messed that one up by texting him with a packers owned celly. Stupid, stupid. I would have loved to see him as a vike though cuz minnesota fans have hated him for so long. They'd have to admit he really is good. I got a buddy Pauly that would probably sell his tickets if they got farve. Man that would be funny.

If you ask me, he might have 1-2 more decent seasons left if he came back and then he would be done for good anyways. He's 38 years old and I couldn't imagine a team even wanting to pick him up at that age. Maybe a team disparate for a super bowl victory but not concerned about a legacy? Owning a team is like owning a business--you don't go for a profit for only one year, you build so you profit every year. As much as I like Favre, it'd be a severe gamble for any team to pick him up imo |

It seems to me that the "anti" Favre crowd is treating this thing as if he retired 3 years ago. And now all of a sudden feels like he's entitled to come back and be a starter. And what have the Packers really done to "move on" in the 6 months since the end of last season?

I am a packer fan and a resident of WI
I have been hearing the opposite--the antifavre crowd up here seems to be excited for Favre to return because they want to see him fail so bad--they also like giving me a hard time about Favre going to chicago or minnesota! they are in total favor of it haha!
What have the packers done to move on? I'd say that naming Aaron Rogers as the next starting QB is what did it. By focussing on rogers to start, they aren't concerning themselves with Favre, and I even think that had to do with Favre wanting to come back--hearing the pack move on with out the entire state falling to their knees weeping and pounding the ground. It makes sense to me because why would he want to come back with a different team, especially the bears or MN? to me its like the packers and favre were dating, and they broke it off and favre is trying to get with the packers' best friend to get back at them and make them jealous. While the packers aren't best friends with the viks or the bears, they are close yet have a strong rivalry.
As someone who watched Favre his entire career, I am going to say that he should just move on with dignity and stay out of the NFL. Whether you like it or not, Favre is a legend, not only to the pack but to the NFL. Coming back would just make him look bad. |

Being from Illinois (but living in Wisconsin), I am biased. It's not as funny when you have to explain it, but there was obviously some confusion. |

I appreciate what Farve did for us, but how the toughest man in football became the whiniest soap star in the NFL is beyond me. And holding the rest of the league as a media hostage (again) is just lame.
Then again, Farve's first love has always been acting.

I was on Brett Favre's side in this whole thing, and would have welcomed him back with open arms. Once it became public he wanted to play for the Viqueens though, all bets were off. He has irrevocably tarnished his reputation and legacy.
That is almost the worst thing in the world you could do to a Packer fan. |

If he had said he was coming back before the draft, they would have used that pick on another need area. So now, they used that pick, they've probably re-written a good chunk of the playbook in the off season to take advantage of Rogers particular skill set and they're prepping him to be the QB. Can't blame them for being less than enthusiastic about welcoming him back.
