Wish me luck- got a psychiatric evaluation tomorrow.

Sign in to disble this ad
I knew this was going to happen. At Christmas I had a huge set of breakdowns and so lost my place in a highly important and competitive set of classes I was doing (studying administration). So now my careers people want me to undergo these series of tests in order to see if I am actually mentally strong enough to returning to the classroom.

Part of me is frustrated. I'm already sorta diagnosed with depression, but I'm frustrated that at the time this diagnosis was made, there was little or no attempt to find out what was triggering it, or indeed help me understand what was happening, or to cope with it. It was a 10min appointment and some pills. The evaluation that they're giving me tomorrow is, in my opinion and in the opinions of several other people (including another doctor) what they should have done in the first damn place.

I'm mostly just scared out of my wits about this. I don't know what's going to happen.

Wish me luck...

Best wishes to you. Hope things work out for the best. If you aren't happy with the way they are treating you (not telling you what's going on, etc.) SAY SOMETHING. Just don't be confrontational about it...

Unfortunately one of my biggest problems is my tendecy to, if something isn't going to my liking, I'll merely 'put up and shut up' and not say anything.

Why were you at class over Christmas? Don't all UK schools break for at least two weeks around Christmas?

I graduated in July from college. This class I was doing is a specialist set of classes/exams in administration, ran by a local college and the term times and stuff were completely independent of the usual pattern.

I'm sure there's nothing in this test which is going to pose a problem.

Okay, when you look at the Rorschachs, don't say anything about sex or violence. Puppies, electric trains sets, dolphins, etc. NO SEX OR VIOLENCE.

Just be yourself, it's better the devil you know what the problem may be earlier, rather than later. Try and communicate everything as you normally would and just be honest about your feelings, you need to know what your dealing with, before you can address it ; )

This is good advice for anyone who's going to offer anything other than good luck.

For the sake of the stigma attached to a subject like this Fassa, I'd advise you delete this thread, just saying.

If people can't be sensible and self-moderate themselves, that's not my problem. There's been far more worse threads made on here.

I think the suggestion might have been made from the perspective that in a few years when this is well behind you, it might be uncomfortable for you if someone (say a potential employer) finds this thread in which you're talking about having had breakdowns and having to undergo psychiatric testing.

Regardless, good luck. Be yourself.

I admire your trust in human nature Fassa, when I was 22 I thought like that, I wish you luck, take it easy.
