Holiday Hotties is the name of the contest put on by WNCI radio station ! ! While my daughter is beautiful, I do not refer to her as a "hottie".

This is No Neck Shrek's wife. He will surely be upset with me when he sees this post but I don't care...it needs to be said! IMO those of you who could think these dirty thoughts about a man and his daughter should check your reasons why your thought process went in that direction! Our daughter asked us to ask our friends to vote for her. I posted the contest information on facebook and I suggested to my husband that he ask his buddies on his Talkbass Threads to vote for her. He is always telling me how great you guys are and how much fun he has on here. I can't believe he hangs out with people whos thoughts could go in that direction about a man's daughter! This is totally beyond my comprehension of how "friends" should react or respond! I had no idea when I suggested this to him that anyone would have dirty minds and jump to the conclusions and imply that it was creepy, awkward or whatever other dirty thoughts you had! There is nothing wrong with a father supporting his daughter in what she choses to do providing it's honest! Those of you who are fathers should know this! I feel sorry for all of you with the dirty thoughts. Shame on you!!!

Obviously this father hasn't seen the Chicks At Shows thread. You come on here, post a picture of your daughter, who is good looking, and of course the guys are gonna go off. Some will make snark comments towards the father for even posting it and most will make naughty comments about the daughter. Its the internet, its gonna happen. Think ahead...

I'm not entirely sure that is what was meant. More it was about the strangeness of a father referring to his daughter as a "hottie", when the normal stance of a father tends to be "look at her like that again and i'll tear your head off"

At least, that is how I interpreted it.

He did not refer to Allison as being a hottie. He said she was beautiful! Hottie...Beautiful...two seperate words, they sound different and are spelled different! The contest is sponsored by a radio show and it is called Holiday Hotties. All he did was not copy and post the entire title of the contest in the link. The rest was implied by some dirty minded people.

To the rest of you who are trying to be helpful and kind.. thank you! Oh how I wish I had not asked Mark to post this! I will have to ask him to forgive me for putting him in the limelight so to speak and bringing him under this kind of attack when all he was trying to do was be a proud father in support of his child!

I kind of agree - there's no harm at all in a Dad asking his bassist buddies to vote for her in a competition like this one, imo. Those who are "creeped out" by it strike me as surprising, to be honest. I guess we've all been so polluted by so much sordid stuff in the media that we see it even when it isn't there.

Anyway, she's a great looking girlie, best of luck to her!

Well, it's true, I think. Sure, a pic like that could attract some unwelcome attention. But it's guys who can't see a pic of a pretty girl and enjoy it without descending to gutter level (if that were to happen - no sign at all of it so far in this thread) that have the problem, not the dad who's proud of having a good looking daughter.

If a dad can't share a pic of his daughter on a forum like this one because somebody might be tasteless enough to make inappropriate or indecent comments, then that's a shame. Dad should go ahead and be as proud as he likes and not let people with issues of their own stop him from sharing how proud he is.

What's the problem with the term "hottie", by the way? If a girl's attractive, then she's attractive. Somehow, resenting her being described as such doesn't seem to do a lot to preserve her dignity or virtue. It actually smacks of paranoia more than anything else.

Bassybill I like the way you talk write. I tried to think of a way to address the hottie issue and couldn't find the right words to express what I was wanted to say. I was so angry it blocked all of my brain cells from time to time. You said it all for me exactly what I was trying to find the words for. more thanks to you.
