especially if your parents are grammar teachers.

sorry, couldn't help myself!

i honestly don't know about dating someone with my mom's name. we'll see. my dad's name was, john. its so common i think it would be inevitable, if i was dating guys.

slightly off topic, my ex's name is soooo common that i meet women regularly with the same name. i try real hard not to get weirded out. at some point, i am gonna have to confront trying to tap that. its gonna be strange...

I'd just give her a nickname, Sweetpea or something (not that one perhaps). Wales is built on nicknames, 'Dai the Murderer', had an accident with a pet budgie years back and 'John the Bastard', would implicate as such, none of it stands up though, it's just fun, noone minds. I think it came about because of same name confusion, so they got tagged with the most prevalent self made myth at the time.

I would, and I have, twice actually.

But since I rearely called my mom by her given name it didn't seem too weird.

Same first name? I guess, though there aren't many girls named Roberta these days. It would also be possible to date a girl with my dads name, Dale, but I'm sure those are few and far between as well. First and last name, that'd just be too weird.

My wife did, and so did her sister. No awkward moments, but don't simply say "Hey, Dave" during family get-togethers -- you'd get three "Huh?"s in response.

It's only a name, you can do something with it surely. I bet if most fellas were put on the spot, and the lady was attractive enough, they could forget about that fellas psychoanalytic theory, what's it called again?....yeah, that Oedipus Complex thing pretty quickly

It depends, if you off-set another's personality and relation to yourself onto another completely different person from another genetic pool, because they share the same name? I think it's just my take, I don't put a lot of store in names, more like who you are, that's the dif, interesting stuff though, an interesting association.

my mother's name Betty (not short for anything) is not exactly a common name for my generation. i have been on a date with an Elizabeth but i was more interested in her sister which is why that didn't work.

on the other side of things i'v been hit on by gay guys with the same name as my father that was awkward for other reasons.

I know pretty girls named Hannah, Natalie, and Melanie- The names of my sisters and mother respectively. I considered the name situation, but figured I'd cross that bridge if I ever got to it.

More likely than dating someone who looked like one of the parental units.
