Would you feel the same about eating plants if they could feel pain?

I know I wouldn't. It probably wouldn't make me stop since animals feel pain and I eat them, but it would make me think about it more. What are your thoughts?

I'm not a vegetarian because I love animals, it's because I hate plants.

Yeah, but ....

Plants WANT to be eaten. They are designed that way. You are supposed to eat them and poop the seeds out so they will propogate.

Of course, that doesn't happen much for civilized folks, but we have only been in the picture for a very short time.

That is true for fruits, but not for most vegetables. And many spices we eat evolved as defenses for plants to keep them from being eaten.

Wow, everyone's gone \MM/ for today. - Well, since I can't subsist on gravel, I'd have no choice but to eat, say, buckwheat and maybe some wilted turnip greens.

It doesn't matter if they can feel pain, they don't have mouths so we can't hear them scream

I would kill them first before I eat them - just like with those tasty animals.

Gotta love the irony in that one.
