Would you remove your facial hair for a job ? I have an oppertunity for employment that would require me to remove my beard ( one my face) but I find it difficult considering it has been the longest commited relationship I have been in.

No, I most probably wouldn't.
That desicion has cost me dearly, but at least I think it's been worth it.

I've reigned in a lot of things I thought used to "matter" like longish hair and wierd facial topiary...but if you wanna be taken serious, especially amongst business clientele, you gotta play the game and keep yourself groomed. I sport about 1/4" stubble beard at the most, and the hair is respectably rockin yet short. If you are steadfast on the "look" over anything else, you run real risk of hitting roadblocks professionally...

Please we don't need another corporate douche' clone out there. Enough of them have already ruined the USA with their corporate brain washing.
Honestly I find it offensive that someone would ask you to change your appearance for a job unless you are Johnny Depp and our up for a big role. And you can guess how much he gets paid to change how he looks.
Yes I may not make as much money as a clean shaving corporate kiss ass but I can look in the mirror and know that I live my life the way I choose.
Keep your carrot at the end of the string. Besides they will just lay you off and then you will be jobless and beardless. |

A simple matter of whether or not your boss prefers a neat grooming. If he does, fall in. That would have been established upon your hire, or adressed after if things changed radically. That's reality. It has NOTHING to do with being a corporate kiss ass. Personally I find that to be a tremendous cop out. You just keep bucking that system and "keeping it real" man.

... hmmm , self-righteous much ?? seriously , do you really think because someone shaves his facial hair ,
that automatically makes him a " corporate kiss-ass " ?

But what do I know, my large corporation job lets me have my scraggly facial hair. If they told me to shave it though, I would. It's a good job! |
