Question Would you want a dog that had a human lifespan ?

Sign in to disble this ad
If the longevity of Dog's ever progressed to the length comparable to humans would you want to own one ? It's a tough call for me, it would be like having a life long dependent.

I have a harlequin Great Dane, the first dog that was mine all mine, and he is the best dog in the world, the most trouble-free, well-trained and disciplined dog I've ever encountered. I really hit the jackpot.

Danes have relatively short life spans. He's seven years old, and probably only has two or three years left.

I will be devastated when this dog dies. I can't even think about it.

So yes, if I could stretch out this dog's life span, I certainly would.

Some dogs, and even cats maybe. I think it would be great if companion pets, both dogs and cats could live about 35-40 of healthy life
as an average, but it just ain't so. I do treasure what time I do get with my pets, for as long as it lasts, and I keep my heart
open to other critters that may come my way, which helps me to get past the loss of a well loved pet.

Absolutely! I come from a family who has always had dogs. When one died, we would get another. The companionship is too great to be without (sadly, I moved away and currently have no dog, but my girlfriend does and her dog is awesome!). The only problem I would see is that it would be that much more painful when the dog died, but in the end, I think the benefits would outweigh the negatives.

Here's the thing, I love dogs & I've had two dogs since they were puppies. If dogs had human lifespans then they're going to outgrow all the other species. How many puppies a dog can have in 70~80 years?.. So, I'm saying no.

Don't know, to be honest, I'd be worried about him outliving me and having no one to look after him.

Not human life span, but longer than now, maybe 40 years at most.
