Would you've liked to be a child prodigy (music wise)?

Well, you see all these videos and stuff of children that play extraordinary music and have better musical skills at age 5 than normal people haven't even gotten at age 50. Props to them, but I wouldn't want to be a child prodigy tbh. Just too much pressure from society to keep performing better and better as you grow up.

For reals? You got any literature to support your statement? I've always hoped my child would be a child prodigy, but if your aforementioned statement is true I'm not sure I would want that to happen.

I think Fassa is thinking of those who were once called 'Idiot Savants'. These would include people like that Rainman dude. Basically it's Autism.

A Child prodigy isn't neccersarily like this though.

I can't remember specific names or anything but there was a girl who went to Cambridge at 14 (yes, 14!) and ended up running away because she was under intense pressure to preform well, and her demanding parents did not allow her to have a social life, friends or indeed anything resembling a normal life.
She was also studying anywhere up to 17 hours a day which would be considered extreme from anyone else.

She admitted that being a prodigy was the worst thing that had happened to her.

I'm not- I know the difference. In the case I've just given the girl was little more than a child genius pushed too far.

She admitted that being so clever pushed her away from 'normal' people and so she couldn't handle a normal relationship.

THIS.

I have no clue who this is from, but I found it genius:

If you're really good at something you hate, the money and success may keep you unhappy for your whole life.

I didn't even pick up an instrument until I bought my first bass about... 1 year and a half ago.

I would have liked to be able to play extremely well at a young age. I wouldn't use it to show off though, I'm not like that. It would be a sweet talent.
