You play all the notes and chords on a real midi keyboard. If you can play that, you can play a real piano. |

As a guitar/bass teacher with 20 students, most of whom are suddenly interested in playing because of songs they heard on Rock Band and Guitar Hero, if these things become like phrase trainers with realistic guitars, it will compromise my student base.

You basically play a legit (albeit cheap) electric/midi drum set that has its own kick, toms, and cymbals. Likewise, if you can play those songs on expert then you can easily transfer that knowledge to a real set and be a pretty darn good drummer with no formal training. The only thing you'd need to learn is how to use a high-hat pedal properly and how to work dynamics. |
