Wow... Saladmaster and Fissler cookingware...

Anyone here own cookingware from brands like Saladmaster or Fissler? That kind of stuff can get really expensive. I'm wondering, if anyone's S.O. here has that kind of stuff, did you just man up and buy it for them? Or did you try to do what I'm doing, find some cheaper way to purchase them?

EDIT: I don't want to make another topic, so let me ask another "out of nowhere" question. Anyone know a good site that is similar to slickdeals? One that has coupons, deals, etc?

we had this guy come over to our house to cook dinner for us using the saladmaster gear... it was a free meal so what the heck, we said. he showed us how there was buildup in our regular pots and pans and things and cooked a really good meal and i guess my mom was sold, so now all our pots are those ones that vacuum seal. *shrug*

One of my wifes friends is or WAS involved with Saladmaster. We have quite a few of their products but not the complete line. There stuff IS expensive it it's also very well made and thought out. I cook and BBQ so I don't mind spending money on quality kitchen stuff. We still have the ugliest looking kitchen knives in the world but they cut well I also have a tupperware ONLY rule for food storage. Some of that wannabe tupperware SUCKS

My wife bought those expensive silicone bread pans and muffin trays. My daughter made meatloaf in the bread pan, then cut the soft silicone pan to shreads with a knife

As with beer, there are some things in life that it is silly to cut corners on, and cookware is absolutely one of them.

I have a mish-mash of stuff, Calphalon, Kitchen Aid (which make/markets some pretty darn nice stuff actually!), etcetera. I get what I need and like, not what is "matching".

I also prefer to cook on cast iron whenever possible, and own two very nice cast-iron dutch ovens, several saute' pans, a frying pan, a griddle (a MUST for bacon!), and my pride and joy, rescued from the ruins of my first marriage (and yes, there was a bit of a "custody battle" over it! ) a flat-bottomed cast-iron WOK!

Cast-iron just heats so evenly, it's worth the extra effort to clean, IMO.

I've been known to both cook in one, and cook someone else in one....

However, where I grew up, we referred to it as "playing turtle"...
