Wth's goin' on with PP and Ebay?
I sold an item today, he paid very quickly, go to my PP acct to try and transfer the $ to my bank acct and Paypal informs me that they have a new buyer's protection option. They're going to hold my $ until the buyer gets my item and gives me a positive feedback. OMG
I have perfect 100% feedback
I usually ship when the $ clears my acct. Speechless
Needless to say nothing's leaving my house until $ clears my acct. |

It affects all sellers who have under a certain number of feedbacks, regardless if the lower number is 100% positive. Since they'll hold your money until the buyer leaves pos. feedback, and since he won't leave pos. feedback if he doesn't get the goods in a timely fashion, if you delay shipping you may as well kiss that money goodbye. |

eBay item hold. PayPal, in its sole discretion, may place a hold on a payment you receive for an eBay transaction when PayPal believes there may be a high level of risk associated with the transaction. If PayPal places a hold on your payment, it will show as "pending" in your PayPal Account.
Release of eBay item hold. PayPal will release the eBay item hold after 21 days unless you receive a Dispute, Claim, Chargeback, or Reversal on the transaction subject to the hold. PayPal may release the hold earlier if either of the following applies:
(a) The buyer leaves positive feedback on eBay, or
(b) PayPal can confirm delivery. PayPal will confirm delivery if you use USPS or FedEx to ship the item and (i) use PayPal shipping labels, or (ii) upload tracking information to PayPal via the transaction details page. This applies to US domestic transactions only.
Additional hold period. If you receive a Dispute, Claim, Chargeback, or Reversal on the transaction subject to the eBay item hold, PayPal may hold the payment in your Account until the matter is resolved pursuant to this Agreement.
| So it looks like you will get your money, but it may take as long as 21 days. |

PayPal may release the Payment Hold when one of the criteria is met:
* The buyer leaves positive feedback after receiving the item.
* 21 days without a dispute, claim, chargeback or reversal filed on that transaction.
* 3 days after PayPal confirms item delivery.
We recommend shipping the item once payment is received. The sooner the buyer receives the item, the sooner the seller receives positive feedback.
Both Payment Review and Payment Holds for eBay items place the transaction under a Pending balance during the hold. | |

If buyer doesn't like the item, a dispute normally gets filed. That's where the sh!t gets fuzzy. Sleazebay is trying to cut back on the bogus sellers. A lot of sellers used to extort positive feedback from buyers....."you'll get positive feedback after you leave me positive crap".
Anyway, paypal just holds the money till both parties are satisfied. It sucks for honest people trying to get needed money in a hurry. Ebay owns paypal, so we'll probably see a lot more changes.
YMMV, I haven't used the new system yet. Kinda scared to.

I think this new policy could be the last straw for them. They must be getting ripped off somehow.
I did something about it though instead of just complain. I even told ebay i was going to refund the amount and then send another invoice for the same amount bypassing ebay's new hold payment, ship now policy. |

Hi, 3 days ago I sold something for $50 with no hold on the $. Today I sell something for $149 and paypal says ship now so you can get your $ sooner.

Yes, that's right..... We are holding the payment for a small percentage of sellers because would like to ensure that buyers have less risk of losing their money if there are problems with these transactions.
12:04:44 AM Juliet D.
We're confident that by reducing the risk for buyers, we are increasing buyer confidence which should help sellers sell more items on the site. We have found that after 21 days, the chance of a buyer dispute or claim significantly decreases.
12:04:59 AM Juliet D.
PayPal will release the hold when your buyer leaves you a positive Feedback rating, 3 days after the confirmed item delivery, or 21 days after if your buyer doesn't open any disputes, claims, chargebacks or reversals.
12:05:05 AM pay
Stop copy and pasting for a minute....
12:05:17 AM Juliet D.
ok.
12:05:24 AM pay
why was one payment held and the other not?
12:06:29 AM Juliet D.
Because this has now been put in to practice.
12:06:39 AM pay
300273 held. 3002736 I was able to transfer $ to my acct immediately
12:06:58 AM pay
why was one held and the other not?
12:08:35 AM Juliet D.
We won't hold your payments if you meet all of these requirements:
- You've been a member for more than 6 months.
- Your Feedback score is more than 100.
- Your buyer dissatisfaction is less than 5%.
- Your Detailed Seller Rating (DSR) scores are all great than 4.5.
- You have more than 20 DSRs in the last 12 months.
12:08:58 AM pay
Stop copy and pasting please!!! How come one is being held and the other not?
12:09:44 AM Juliet D.
Like I mentioned earlier, this has now being put in to practice. Check for your self the dates when your auctions were ended!
12:10:20 AM pay
3002736 why wasn't this $ held?
12:10:51 AM pay
but 30027 was. WHY?
12:11:00 AM Juliet D.
Because it ended in Nov-16-08
12:11:17 AM Juliet D.
and we have started holding payments from Nov-18-08!!
12:12:00 AM pay
I've read the policy was put in place 3 weeks ago. Why are both of my auctions being treated differently?
12:15:31 AM pay
How can I get this sent to my email
12:16:48 AM pay
anyone home
12:17:15 AM Juliet D.
PayPal is holding money for items that are high risk items like branded items or costly items.
12:17:40 AM pay
What is the cut off dollar amount
12:17:40 AM Juliet D.
The reason why your other payment was not put on hold is because it is not a high risk or costly item.
12:17:55 AM Juliet D.
There is no cut off dollar amount here...
12:18:09 AM pay
How do i get this chat sent to my email? |

have sold a bunch of stuff - with perfect feedback.
Today I just put something up, not knowing this new policy.
They should have given me something to read and then
check a box that I agree.
I'm done with eBay.

This sucks. I've been a member for a few years, have around 70 transactions at 100% positive. I've never sold on ebay and it looks like I never will with these rules. Ebay charges you for listing and then Paypal (wich ebay owns) gets you for another 3%. It's kinda like they're wanting people to get over the 100 transaction marks while selling 20 things in a years time to get rid of the money hold. I smell a turd.

I sold a bass and shipped it on a Thursday, and uploaded the tracking information to the Paypal website. The bass was delivered the next day, Friday. The tracking status on the Paypal site never updated. I waited three days, until Tuesday early afternoon and called Paypal. After asking someone to release my funds, they did, and it wa not a big deal. However, I shipped the item to someone in the same state as me, so it was a quick delivery. If I was sending it across the country and would have to possibly wait 5-6 days before it was delivered, and then have to wait an additional 3 days on top of that, just wow. What an awful move. |

Is the next step to hold any money that you might receive in Paypal from any transaction i.e. TB? I don't sell much on Ebay but it sure seems like they are giving the buyer way too much leverage.
