I've always been a huge history nut especially when it comes to WWII. I've always wanted to get my hands on a German Mauser K98, American M1 Garand, Russian Mosin-Nagant, or British Enfield rifles just to collect it, not even shoot it (although, after having it, I probably would want to take it to the range ). Anyone know where I could score one? I know someone on here has an old rifle collection. The K98 would be the one I would like to have most, but the others are good as well. |

Have your local FFL order it for you if you don't have a C&R license. They have the Mosins as well, and get the Enfields in regularly.
Locally, you can usually find Mosins at Dunham's Sports, if you have any of them around.

You can order any rifle over 50 years old (or designated by the ATF as a collector's item) and have it mailed to your door, no 4473, no transfer fees, no instant check, nothing. Just like you're ordering a CD or something.
You also get significant discounts at places like Brownells, MidwayUSA, and other places because you have an FFL... this can more than pay for the $30/3 year fee very quickly.

My personal favorite is the no4 mk1(T the sniper varient if you ever get a chance). I have been fortunate enough to shoot the black powder version called the Lee Metford(before the Enfield). These are very accurate rifles. Very well balanced. The early rifles still have the volly sights on them. They could shoot a long way.
Lee is the action, Enfield or Metford is the rifling. Not many people have ever shot a Metford i am very lucky. |

Which manufacturere is your M1?? At one time my Dad and I had at least one from each manufacturer. I used to love working on and shooting them. I should buy my Son and I a pair!!!
Many people don't know that IBM and a few other obscure companies like Rockola and National Postal Meter made them!! |
