Okay Xbox people.....help me out here....
I'm looking at the Star Wars special edition coming out and the Modern Warfare 3 bundle and other Kinect bundles currently on sale at Best Buy, etc.
If you were going to go get yourself a new Xbox system and a Kinect (either bundled or separately) in the next 30-60 days what would you get? |

There was a deal for the 4gb plus a kinect for $200 but it sold out rather quickly. I would have gone for that if it were available.

As far as the other two.... get whichever one you would rather have, but be aware that you'll want a good amount of hard drive on the system.
Personally though..... I managed a Gamestop and can tell you that the quality of the hardware is FAR superior on a PS3. Also, Microsoft will "accessory" you to death.
The controller is not rechargable unless you purchase the extra battery pack for $20
Most do not have wireless net connection built in... its $100 extra
More importantly... online gaming is around $50 for a year... doesnt sound bad but that means that youll spend $250 in 5 years just to play your games online.
Really add up the total cost of ownership before you decide to go with xbox.
and lets not get started on the fact that the xbox360 has the worst reliability of any home gaming console in history. At one point the failure rate was over 30% and gamestop would no longer offer extended warranties on the systems.

I have a (very old) PS3 already. It's been great.
I had an old original xbox and gave it away after it was refurbished.
Oh yeah, I don't do online gaming.
I'd like to get another Xbox only because there are a few games that are only available on the Xbox. I heard that the Kinect is better than the PS3's gizmo.
Oh well...not sure now!

I'd get a used arcade version 360 on Craigslist for $100 bucks until the new version comes out.

| | | | If you can try and get the 4Gig 360 slim, I share it with my brother and we still haven't had a problem with space, although I'd recommend the wired controllers, they're usually cheaper and don't need batteries |

As far as Xbox bundles I say just get something with a good amount of space. The 20GB and 60GB on the original 360s was paltry.

The new black Xboxs have much improved reliability than the old ones.
4GB is not that much storage IMO. (this really depends on how many games you play)
Kinect is cool if your in the age group of 5-12, or if you wanna "workout"...
I think it all depends on what games your gonna play.

My buddy's wife does Kinect Zumba and loves it. He mostly uses it for the extra features some games are throwing in. Dance Central is kind of fun after a few drinks with some friends though.
Depending on how serious you want to be, I'd skip right over the 4GB model. My 60GB hard drive on the old model is more than half full, no way I'd be able to survive with 4GB. But if you're not playing online, most of the DLC is unnecessary so it might work for you. I also like to install my games to the hard drive for better performance and quicker loading. If you play games like Forza 4, there's an entire 2nd disc of cars you need to install and you'd need that space.

It's supposed to get revealed at E3 next year, and Microsoft has made no bones that it wants to beat Sony to the market with the next console. 2014 is way to far away IMO.

I am a gamer myself, but really prefer a controller to the military grade technology that may be used as an advertising tool down the road.
