I use the wireless router to play my Xbox live to play my COD MW2, and the past three nights, the game will go haywire on me and the freeze. It really ticked me off when I had about 8/9 kills in the Rust map, and I lost all my points made from that. It used to do it occasionally but now more often. My bf said that my internet connection is prob slow. I have DSL, but I really don't know.
Anyone else with a similar problem?? The Black Ops comes out Tuesday morning and I don't want ANY issues while playing it!!

If it's freezing, it's probably the disc (happened to my Call of Duty 2). If the connection is cutting out try to figure out if it's your entire network or just the 360. If it's the latter, try taking a few devices of of the network (turn them off or sever their connection) because they might be drawing too much bandwidth for your 360s connection to be consistent. If it's the entire network call your ISP. Also (assuming you're wireless), if your 360 is in a non-ideal location relative to router (e.g. router on the 2nd floor, 360 in the basement) you might wanna move it.
Hope you fix it before Black Ops! I look forward to crushing everyone on my friends list, lol

Then when I hit the center button-once it lets me, it will freeze on the page I open (shows ur friends, private chat, etc). Sometimes it will say connection, and this black and white box will appear at the bottom of the screen (IDK what it is a pic of something).
thanks for the advice ya!!
The router is in my studio/computer room. I have a one story home and there is one bedroom separating the wall between the xbox console and the router.
I wish I could afford high speed internet but even if I could, they don't offer it in my area. It stops like down the street!! lol! I was lucky to get DSL.
I thought about hooking up a bunch of Ethernet cables together and just running it into this room! lol!
Hey, you would crush me regardless. I am not the best player out there. I am the dummy
who stands in the middle of the firing range shooting down the harrier planes and pave lows! lol! Not to mention my aim totally sucks. I could be shooting right at someone and well, miss and get killed. It's a wonder I am at level 57 now. My ten year old is better than me. That's bad! But I LOVE playing it!!!

i know if i have various torrential downloading programs running on my computers, they eat up all the bandwidth and xbox gets screwy. i can usually work the glitches to my advantage, though, if it's the host and everyone is glitching as well (got my highest killstreak at a glitchy bouncy afghan match)
can't wait for black ops, but my manager, who knows that i'm getting it at midnight and we've talked about it for the last month, schedules me to close monday night - hopefully i'lll be out by 11:30 and can make it... |

The character freezing and jerkin' around and the black and white box are connection issues. The black and white box is basically telling you that your connection is sucking at the moment. However, the xbox guide menu should be able to be called up at any time during and game in any game mode so that sounds like it could be the system or the game. Try calling your ISP first and if you can get your hands on a friends copy of the game see if that gives you the same issues. DSL is fine for gaming, not the best but you shouldn't be getting those issues.
If it's any consolation... my aim sucks too that why I like knives and explosives lol Quote:

I have a super long network cable. A couple of them actually. A friend of mine works in networking, so he has a nice long roll of it that you just chop off at the desired length
Long network cables actually cause lag, and realistically are not as good for gaming in a way, but connections dropping out drives me insane. Is there any way to get the router closer to you? Maybe drill some holes in the wall

As for running up to some (like a lot do to me) and stabbing and running off my merrily way, I just can't seem to do it! And the knife that you throw, I hate having to go and find it and pick it back up. Would be nice if it is returned to you without having to get it! lol!
Thanks for your advice, I will certainly try it all...
Simo98: My bf is a computer whiz, so next time he comes over, I am gonna see what he can do as far as moving the router. He needs to come over to see what's wrong with my mixer set up anyways in the studio, so other ward he needs to come over soon!
I am gonna ask him if he has any long network cables too. thanks!!
bassk81976: I do pretty decent in Afghan,Scrapyard, Sub and Rust-although Rust hardly comes up. I bought the extra maps for Carnival and Trailer park, but got tired of them pretty fast. I can't WAIT until the new game comes out!!! Hope you get urs too soon as you get off. My bf won't get out of his gig until about 2, but I will be there to help him pack up his stuff, and load up, then we are going to go to Walmart to get the game. When Modern Warfare2 came out last year, I went for him to get it the min they released it. I didn't get into the game until about 2 months ago, when I went to his house to play it. Then I was hooked!! He can't believe I am hooked on it either! I tell him it's his fault! lol! His ex old lady showed any interest in playing games with him or stood behind his music for that matter.

| | | | The game freezing has nothing to do with an Internet connection issue. At all.
You might be dealing with 2 different problems at the same time.
The console freezing is solely due to an Xbox 360 issue ; not an Internet connectivity-related one. |

Wrong. Up to 100ft, everything's peachy. Beyond this is when the lag can start. | The problems you can experience with wireless connections virtually go completely away when you hard wire.

great news when I played this morning, I had NO issues at all. Only problem was I couldn't hear my bf talk on the private chat...I heard him sometimes. But I think it was on his end cause when he signed off, I heard the other ppl talk with no problems. At least the game didn't freeze.
oh the other issue is I got sick playing. I mean motion sick. I am coming down with a cold I think.
