xbox live internet usage.

Hi,

I live with my g/f and her family at the moment and we are constantly using up our internet allowance and having to pay extra for going over, and the isp has even put us onto an "office allowance".

We have one computer and one laptop, the laptop being used more than the computer. They are both used for browsing, some youtube and very occasionally streaming a movie.
The other thing is my g/fs younger brother is on his xbox and xbox live nearly the whole day 7 days a week (and when he comes off his xbox he usually goes on youtube)

My question is just how much "internet" does the xbox live use? and could this be the reason we are constantly going over the allowance?

Sorry for the not-very-technical description but thankyou for any info.
Asa.

I would say the Xbox live definitely does it.

It is basically as if he is playing an online computer game, it is a constant source of bandwidth being used and constantly is streaming data.

That is absolutely your largest bandwidth usage.

I might would look for an ISP that doesn't charge you a date usage fee or is that not available in your area?

Capped internet usage? I didn't know this existed!

Definitely not your friend if you're a gamer or live with a gamer. Is there a way to find an ISP with unlimited data transfer?

I haven't heard of it in years and never from an ISP that wasn't cellular or dial up.

Even in the US. You have to read the fine print... even though it's "unlimited", it's hidden in the fine print how much you're actually allowed. Granted, it's a large bit usually, but still a cap.

Is he playing online, or playing single player games while having his gamertag online? If it's the latter, just tell him to sign out while he's playing. If it's the former...I'm willing to bet he takes up a ton of bandwidth.
