Xmas Shopping Already?

Sign in to disble this ad
Just wondering...many of my local shops are already festooning their premises with gaudy decorations in an attempt to convince me I must start my Christmas shopping NOW or I will miss out.

As it happens, we usually go away over Xmas to avoid the ridiculous consumer frenzy that everyone seems to get caught up in. But it does bring out the grumpy old man in me.

Anyone else notice Xmas products being displayed earlier each year? Toy adverts are usually a good indicator, and whilst they are a mainstay of Boomerang/Nickelodeon etc, they are already creeping into the schedules of non child-orientated channels.

This year the Toyworld near me had a "Lay-by for Christmas" sale in July..

Yeah I walked into the hardware store and they have all the decor out. Hell they had even taken the Halloween decorations down already.

I'll probably start shopping pretty early this year because the activity really makes me want to kill everyone around me when I usually do it ...on christmas eve.

They start putting out the Christmas decorations earlier each year it seems. I haven't started Christmas shopping yet, usually don't start until around or right after Thanksgiving. And 90% of it is on the couch in me pajamas

I do my christmas shopping early, like the rest of my family. I've actually already bought my girlfriend's christmas gift - an Art & Lutherie dreadnought with solid cedar soundboard, of course the only reason I got it THIS early is because I saw it on kijiji for $100, and figured it was a killer deal.

The mad orgy of consumerism is the main reason I hate Christmas so much!

Yeah, I do a lot of Xmas shopping online as well. Amazon is my friend.
