which brings up I may have to back up my computer?? I'm pretty good about updates, but what is this gonna do to my computer??? I really REALLY don't want to screw anything up while i'm here at college where i won't be able to really take care of it

Your data will still be there.
My Girlfriend did it, and nothing happened to her computer.

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Jul 2002 Location: Northern Va. | | | 5 of my PC's did this in the past 2-3 weeks. Absolutely painless. I also made my own slipstreamed XP SP3 installer CD and used to redo an older machine I have. Installed and runs flawlessly.
If you're using Zone Alarm, do some googling and turn it off. There still may be an issue there, I don't know.

Anyone with at least 3 gigs or ram can run Vista smoothly, any extra just makes running multiple processes that much easier. I have 6 gigs and it runs SO much smoother than XP ever did.
