coming from a part of the country where they only broadcast Braves or Rangers games. the Braves never fail to disappoint.

Just so we're clear, I know Boston is a better baseball team than Pittsburgh. There isn't much to cheer about as a Pirates fan these days. So when my team is able to beat one of the best teams in baseball twice in three tries, I'm not going to forget that anytime soon. If that bothers you, too bad. I'm not apologizing for these moments that come so rarely as a Pirates fan.

-Mike | Believe me, that doesn't bother me at all, and of course there's no need for apology. You just have to realize that losing to such a crappy team as the Pirates is a bit embarassing. Not that losing to the Phils would be good, but at least they're a good team.

It's the old "What have you done for me lately" thing, and the Phils are a very good team and a contender to win it all in October. A Phils-Sox WS would be a great matchup.

Overall though, as far as the AL East goes, it's still anyone's division. Even the Rays still have a chance. Philly does seem to be dominating their division, but they better be, because the only other 1/2 way decent team there is Atlanta. The rest are all sucking.

You know, I thought I remembered something about that from a while back. More losses than teams that have been around ~5 times as long.
It's still an impressive record though, losing 10k first.
I miss Bobby Cox

I miss Bobby Cox | no team has been around 5 times as long as philly they are one of the original teams. teams get records like this for being around since the 19th century. but yes they have had more years of overall sucking than any other team.
