Pittsburgh took two of three from those Beantown jokers. Time for Philly to do at least the same.

Gee, would these be the same Beantown jokers who swept the Yankees twice in New York? And would these be the same Phillies who lost two out of three in Washington and Pittsburgh earlier this season?

Boston fans think that the beating the yankees is noteworthy.

Of course it's noteworthy! They're in the same division! You'd think it's noteworthy, too, if you were a Sox fan! You think it's noteworthy when the Phillies beat the Braves?

maybe if they had beat the braves in the 90's

coming from a part of the country where they only broadcast Braves or Rangers games. the Braves never fail to disappoint.

I don't know about no Yankees, but I do know that just a few days ago Boston lost two of three games to my Pirates, who are basically a AAA farm team.

Just so we're clear, I know Boston is a better baseball team than Pittsburgh. There isn't much to cheer about as a Pirates fan these days. So when my team is able to beat one of the best teams in baseball twice in three tries, I'm not going to forget that anytime soon. If that bothers you, too bad. I'm not apologizing for these moments that come so rarely as a Pirates fan.

Believe me, that doesn't bother me at all, and of course there's no need for apology. You just have to realize that losing to such a crappy team as the Pirates is a bit embarassing. Not that losing to the Phils would be good, but at least they're a good team.

if you look at the Phils over their entire history they are the worst team in Baseball and the closest team to them in most losses as a franchise needs over 1000 losses to catch up.

Yeah, but so what? It's the old "What have you done for me lately" thing, and the Phils are a very good team and a contender to win it all in October. A Phils-Sox WS would be a great matchup.

Take a look at who's in first in the AL East and continuing to increase their lead. I'll give you a hint, it's not Boston.

Overall though, as far as the AL East goes, it's still anyone's division. Even the Rays still have a chance. Philly does seem to be dominating their division, but they better be, because the only other 1/2 way decent team there is Atlanta. The rest are all sucking.

Phillies are No. 1 in loss column - USATODAY.com

You know, I thought I remembered something about that from a while back. More losses than teams that have been around ~5 times as long.

It's still an impressive record though, losing 10k first.

I miss Bobby Cox

no team has been around 5 times as long as philly they are one of the original teams. teams get records like this for being around since the 19th century. but yes they have had more years of overall sucking than any other team.
