You Can't Be Sirius

Sign in to disble this ad
I just got a new car (a 2009 Mazda6 i Grand Touring) that gives me Sirius satellite radio for 6 months. What's fun for me is to see how artist names appear on the digital readout on my dash. It only allows for 8 characters, so band names are kind of fun.

The Carpenters came up as The Carp, and Joe Cocker came up as...well, you get the idea.

For those of you who experience the same thing, what are some of the wacky names that come up for you?

I admit this is a dumb thread, but it's my 800th post , so I had to come up with something.....

I had XM deleted on my car, however my mom's has a few funny ones. The Joe Cocker one comes up a few times...

I have an 08 Accord with XM. What really bugs me though, is that on the Accord's readout, you can only see Artist or Song, not both like on an aftermarket XM or Sirius radio. I had it free for 6 mos, didn't renew, then when the merger happened, the selections got a lot better, so I'm on the basic music only $9.95/month plan. I like it OK, especially when driving out of area.

It's one of those things that is cool to have, but I'm not sure I'll be able to convince my wife that it makes sense after my freebie is up. My commute is literally 5 minutes, so I don't spend a lot of time in my car to and from work.

What I really want it for is for Brewers/Packers games when I'm travelling. There is nothing more aggravating than trying to switch from station to station as you're driving across WI trying to find a station that has the game on.

And the nice thing about the satellite radio is that they generally broadcast both feeds from both cities. So you can tune in Wayne and Larry, like I do from home when I turn the TV sound off every game and tune in the homers on the radio.

I hate the radios that come already in the cars. I have a Sirius Stiletto and I love it so much. Being able to record everything with one touch is amazing too... Plus it's a nice screen so no cut off artist names .

No pic, no car!

Seriously, the new 6 series looks fantastic, probably the next car we get. I'd love to see what color scheme you chose.

Yeah, I dig the Mazda6 wagon. If I wasn't getting a deal on a Volkwagen that's what I be getting.

This is the best I can do for right now. It's February in Wisconsin and I can't keep my car clean long enough to take a good pic. The one posted is a stock photo, but mine looks just like it.

I got mine in Ebony Black with the black leather interior. The i Grand Touring package comes with a 6 speed manual transmission (no automatic for me), leather, heated seats, push button start, blind spot monitoring, xenon headlights, Bluetooth, etc....and I opted for the Bose/moonroof package. All of this for about $22,800. It's a hell of a car for that price.

I was kind of limited in my color choices because I opted for the 6 speed, but the black is gorgeous. It is definitely a head turner. I had a '93 Mazda 626 that I put about 170K miles on and an '89 Ford Probe (made with a Mazda MX-6 engine and drivetrain) that I put almost 190K miles on....both were great cars. Mazda puts out a nice product.

I'm not interested in paying for radio yet. I listen to local radio whenever possible, so satellite radio is not something that appeals to me.

Mazda has been making win car designs for a few years now, and I must say that even for a wagon, the 6 is bitchin.

Oh yeah, and Sirius rocks! I love the Jam On channel. I have been introduced to so much different music since we got it a few years ago.

I love sirius radio, I could much easier do without cable than sat radio. But then again, I am stuck in a car for up to 20 hours a week. I have a new honda with XM, but I don't bother to activate it. I have a stiletto2 I use in the car, and also have docks in my office and basement.

The programming is great, but I am still angry that instead of my favorite show being live, uncensored, and exclusive.....it is now a replay of his FM show :/

Yep. The more I listen to the new Bubba show. The more I think it blows. I'm glad Howard is still going strong.
