Are you more prone to read a thread if it's been locked?

This is an honest question here. I find that if a thread which looks like something I wouldn't have originally been interesting in reading has a padlock on it, I have to click to see what the controversy was all about. This is especially true for me when the thread title would lead one to believe that the content is benign.

Anyone else more intrigued when a thread's been closed?

It depends on the thread title and if I read it already or not. The "girls without makeup" thread had me intrigued. Then I saw that JT had closed it for the exact reason that came to my head when I read the necro reply.

No, because some of my threads are locked when I was younger, dumber, and slower, so I associate all my stupidity with locked threads. Although, if it's over 1000 posts, I understand.

Yep. I want find out who the idiot was that said something to get it locked. It usually doesn't surprise me who the idiot was. More of a "yeah, that guy is stupid" response I think to myself.

While we're on the subject.....I will take a moment to acknowledge how consistent the moderation is in OT. Fine job fellas you're doing here.

I usually look at who created the thread. If it is political, then I don't read it.

I do, and then when I want to say something I have to remind myself the topic is locked.

I also read them because I want to see how the thread got locked.

I'm like a moth to flame with them.

That's one of the things that's different about TB than other forums I've been on. The mods here generally remove offensive posts when locking threads instead of allowing us would-be-rubberneckers to see what all the fuss is about. As a result you're often reading a relatively benign post and you're left with morbid curiosity about what caused it.

Yeah actually. I like to see the hilarity that caused the lock!

If the thread is locked and i can't guess from the title why, i usually will open it up in curiosity.

If i can guess from the title, i usually don't bother.
