You think it's just music that sucks?

As I was watching the football game this afternoon (Pats-Raiders on CBS) they kept on showing commercial after commercial for their Fall lineup. I'll tell you, it ain't just music that sucks nowadays! It looks like there's nothing on but lousy cop shows ad nauseum, lame comedies, and so-called reality shows. And it's like this on all the networks. No wonder more and more people no longer watch TV! Even PBS is starting to get tiresome with their incessant fund raising, it seems all they show is Australian Pink Floyd, Celtic Thunder, and Yoga and Pilates ad nauseum!

No wonder I'm glad I work nights nowadays! I'm not missing anything at all!

Thanks for reminding me that we're not missing anything(no cable for the past couple of years). If I could get Military History ONLY I might go for it.

You could have written this post 10 or 20 years ago and it would have been just as timely.

Not just the networks, but all the cable channels are hurting for money and are cutting costs by producing the cheapest shows they can get away with.

Shows that write themselves such as "reality" TV and game shows are much cheaper than shows that require talented (and costly) actors and talented (and costly) writers.

I stopped watching TV when I was about 16 or 17 because even at that age it was becoming obvious that they were out of ideas for new shows. Breaking Bad and South Park are the only shows I'll even turn my TV on for these days.

The occasional football game, and cartoons. Usually the not child friendly cartoons, unless its classical like merry melodies and Tom and Jerry. Otherwise, TV sucks. People talk about movies and actors and I have no idea what's going on.

Apparently ABC is redoing the Home Improvement TV series, but instead of Tim Allen having three boys he will have three girls. It's going to be called Last Man Standing.

So much fail.

Yeah, I remember back in the 90s when they were trumpeting this whole information revolution and how many channels there would be, etc. One analyst quite pointedly said, "It's no use having a thousand channels if there's no content to put on them."

There's some good shows still. Modern Family is one of the few things that literally make me laugh out loud, even if I'm watching by myself. Syfy has a couple good shows too (Warehouse 13, Eureka). And I'm really excited for The Walking Dead to return this month.

I thought I would share this... It's more of a Sears issue than TV though. I went to go get something from Sears. There was only one assistant in electronics. He has helping someone out. Apparently this dude bought a 2,000 - 3,000 Sony 3D TV 4 days before. The store gave him Panasonic accessories that were not compatible. The man had great difficulty in getting his items.

As I was waiting I could not help but wonder *** anyone could ever need such an expensive item, especially considering that there is nothing good to watch on it.

That man could have bought me a Warwick Corvette $$ NT in Black with that money....

Yeah, I have enough of a hard time with the smoothing effects some people like to leave on on their 120hz tv's. it looks so unnatural, and kinda eerie... and there is just not enough QUALITY 3d content out there to warrant another platform adoption. No way in heck.

I imagine, and think I heard that prolonged use of 3D images can be bad on a few levels. What the heck happened to people going for walks? I know the weather has been tough lately, but come on... It's only rain... Go outside and enjoy it!

I like watching TV. If I scroll up and down all 2,548 channels we have enough times, I'll find something good to watch.

I have found myself surfing channels for a hour and not finding something good to watch.

So then you're just watching TV, nothing in particular. I've done that too. Then it's just a matter of keeping track of how much stupid stuff is on, or looking for funny commercials.
