GRAMMER NAZIS. Yeah yous guys y'all are way to annoying. Its like your their in our threads for the sole purpose of pissing someone off.
In a thread about financing a bass, MR. Lousybassplayer , corrected a statement of mine, adding nothing to the thread other than quoting my statement and capitalizing the letter 'A' in 'american' . Thats fine and all, yet he used the word ' i fixed it for ya'
What a hypocrite. anyways, I acknowledge that my post was going off topic and said so, not wanting to de-rail the thread ( this is the proper place for this discussion ) . And he came back attacking me and my usage of nouns.
Anyways, So i reported it to the admins, and now to the forum. I've recieved some ticky - tack 'violations' on this forum before, yet i see this type of behavior a lot and not so much enforced.. and it's done by 'supporting members'
I even went on to private message, Mr. lousyb ASSplayer
: You got a problem with me?
Or my ability to convey proper english online?
This is a bass forum, this is a bass thread. It is not a place for passive-aggressive grammar nazi's.
Why do you feel the need to go completely out of your way - out of the threads way, to simply correct the most simplistic of grammatical errors?
And then to take it a step further and question my knowledge and credibility AFTER i stated it was going off topic. ?
whats your problem? Do you have family troubles at home? Are you an english teacher?
I don't come to talkbass to write proper english. I didn't even commit one of the token pet peeves such as 'hey your pretty cool' 'its over their' 'yeah me to'.
So what gives?
Really lousybassplayer enlighten me. I love knowledge, I'm a history and philosophy major. Gimme some enlightenment. oh wait! i just said gimme.
I write PLENTY of MLA grad-level papers on a monthly basis, so you're preaching to the choir.
if you've seriously read this far, you should look into finding a English forum perhaps. Maybe even start your own forum called the talklikeiknoweverythingbuti'mreallyanasshole.com you'd fit in fine.
/end rant

Speaking from my own Ivory Tower, the times I correct someone online is either A) I think they might not know the correct way, or B) Because after a while, you just goes nuts from posts like "I luv being a mom! 2 c the joy n my kids fases is priceless! Its definately not the easiest job but has many benifits!" (an actual FB status).
(Crossing fingers that there's no grammatical unintended errors in the above post...) |

(Crossing fingers that there's no grammatical unintended errors in the above post...) | yeah, you know what, sometimes i might correct someone too. BUT, i don't enter a thread with that soul purpose. Seriously, maybe make a contributing - worthwhile post that helps then OP out and THEN you can maybe correct somebody. Quote:

-Mike | Well mike, as you digress from the topic, I never said i'm 'such a great writer' . I merely stated that I write papers all the time that i proof read and for most part are grammatically correct. I don't need some wa-hoo on the internet 'teaching' me how to use nouns. And It's online, I've got ten minutes to be online - i'm surfing - talking, ya know multitasking, so who cares if I speak in internet dialect? It's not like i was typing like a 13 year old girl ZoMg u R sO Wr0nG!!!!

Joking aside, I started a thread like this a few months ago. You'll find it far less useful than you had intended. Quote:

-Mike | The point to mastering the written word is so that one may take liberties whilst using it. Poetics in action. Quote:
