Southwest is great but I gotta go out of my way to fly them.
Love British Airways for international stuff.

I heard a couple months back that a few airlines are trying to make it so that they can have standing room on board planes now just to save some money | Not quite the same, but some discount airlines were looking at introducing "Sky Rider Saddle" seats on some shorter journey planes. I think the idea was rejected, thankfully.
Free standing is just asking for an accident, bit of turbulence and people are falling all over each other!
On topic, I prefer British Airways.

But frankly, I can get to point A to point B pretty easily. I'll only fly direct with UA, because there's a good chance I'll miss a layover.
But the good news is UA services most major airports in the US. So I can get pretty close to my destination, pretty close to on-time a lot of the time, pretty cheap.

| | | | The only domestic airline I've ever flown that made me think "these guys are good, I wish I could fly like this all the time" is JetBlue.
Unfortunately they don't go to half the places I need to! |

I also like Westjet. Good service, generally pleasant employees. Limited routes and number of flights as compared to AC. | Is Provincial Airlines still around? They used to fly all over the granite planet.

Prices started rising and now AirTran is no longer at my airport of choice (2 mi. away from me). Now, it's what's cheapest but I have not flown since AirTran left (early 2012). |

I don't use them much as the only place in the province I fly to is Deer Lake (i.e. Marble Mountain) and AC is about the same price but way faster (non-stop jet versus a stop in Gander on a Crash 8). I flew to Labrador with them a couple of years ago and while it was slow, the staff was friendly and fun and everyone had a good time.

I drive to a smaller airport, get a round trip flight for between $149 and $199 and arrive at a smaller airport right around the corner from family.

Anyway, flying up and down the US east coast I have used American, US Air, Delta, Southwest. Servie has been all the same except on Delta; to me, the attitude by thier flight staff and ground people is atrocious. For the rest, I chose by who has the cheapest flight, which generally depends upon the route. |
