What is your favorite riff ever, mine would have to be Children Of The Grave, Black Sabbath.

Nasty dogs and funky kings by those tres hombres from tejas would definitely be in the running.

Oooh, good question.

I'd have to go with another Sabbath song, Sabbra Cadabbra. When Geezer and Bill come piling in and it all kicks off there is really no better sound made by any band.

Pre chorus to 'rise' by The Cult. It's amazing.

the pod, by hum.
YouTube - Hum - The Pod (music video) [HQ]

when the song makes the shift at the end of the guitar solo ... and transforms into the outro riff ... freaking amazing. 2:59.

The instrumental part leading into the guitar solo of Firth of Fifth live by Genesis. Collins on drums, Rutherford on the bass.

I'll go old school on this one,

Metallica-Master of Puppets' finger breaker riff for new players. The first riff the band plays together in the song.

I must say the sound of Cliff's bass on that riff made me realize I was a bass person, after all these years still gives me the chills when I hear it.

Hmm. I think I have to go with some old-school metal: either "Sinner" or "Tyrant" by Judas Priest. Simple riffs, but they get me pumped every time \m/

Next, I would have to say 'I Want You Back'-Jackson 5

Or

'I Shot the Sherriff' - (live version with two-part main riff) Bob and the Wailers
