Your Gun or Your Bass?

Sign in to disble this ad
Recently I've noticed a lot of threads pertaining to guns, and TB members even have a gun club. I can sort of understand the whole gun culture when I compare it to bass. The fascination and obsession with firearms in our country is deep rooted I believe. So my question is...If you had to choose between your gun or your bass, which would you choose and why? Please don't turn this thread into a pro-anti gun thread or I'll ask the mods to shut it down. I'm just curious where bass players loyalties lie.

Use the gun to dare someone to try and take your bass . . .

But, to play along. While my bass playing tends to scare people off, it isn't as effective at home protection as my firearms.

That depends. Am I on a stage with a kickass band about to play a kickass show in front of a wild audience? Or am I in the middle of a zombie apocalypse?

These things matter!

I'm not sure how that could NOT happen. This is a polarizing issue and, historically, when one viewpoint is present on TB the other cannot help but rebut.

Sometimes it sounds like I play my bass with cold, dead hands.

I would keep my bass. My guns are not really for protection, but recreation. Furthermore, an 11 lb. Stingray would make one hell of a club!

It's easier to get a bass if you have a gun than to get a gun if you have a bass.

Just sayin'.

Alternatively, you could live in a place where gun ownership isn't even a consideration. At age 52, I can't even relate to this discussion and I've lived in four different Canadian cities, the Middle East and Switzerland.

My bass is worth more than my gun. I'll keep the bass.

My sentiment as well. How often do I actually go shooting with my pals v. how often do I play my bass--by this measure the bass does a lot more for me.

My firearms equate to freedom; my basses equate to expression. I am afraid that without freedom there would be no expression...

Gun ownership is hardly out of the question in Switzerland, no? If I'm not mistaken, don't males serve mandatory military duty there unless deemed unfit?

Also, I've been to a number of places in and around the Middle East where guns were sold on the street. All sorts of folks I knew or met owned them.

I can't speak to Canadian gun culture, but I seem to remember it being legal to own firearms in much of the country.

I guess I would argue that, for many in those countries, gun ownership s indeed a consideration.

I believe that's his point.

OH! How I miss the OT gun threads. This one seems a lot less hostile than the ones I remember. What's going on?? Is there a gas leak in this place??

That would mean they got past the razor wire, dogs and claymores. Definatly no time to be worrying about a bass.
