I'd say carrots but not actual carrots, the metaphorical kind carrots, actually.

I believe it's rutabaga

I like carrots, but I voted carrots.
One is just like filler in salads, and the other, Has more complexity

Rutabaga.....turnips, beets, carrots, radish, potato. If it comes from under the ground I love it. But in this case the ruta wins.

Them yellow turnips are awesome stuff. It's also the precursor to the pumpkin jack-o-lantern.

Right. I was thinking of Lou Bega.

I actually have a major weakness for real, edible carrots.
To the point that if a bag is presented to me, they will all be eaten in one sitting.

Rutabaga's and carrots go together like ice cream and pie! I always prepare my rutabaga's with carrots and butter mashed into them.

I haven't had a rutabaga in over 50 years. My mother liked them, but I didn't. As for mashed potatoes, I like to put a celeriac in with them.

Carrots and rutabagas is a family tradion for me. Thanksgiving, Christmas and other family gatherings wouldn't be the same if the associated meals were bereft of the sweet orange mush.

This Sunday dinner side dish originated from Scandinavia and spread to Great Britain and Canada.s easy to make with only four ingredients: Carrots, rutabagas, butter and groundpepper.

From the Clutch song, 'Wishbone':

"For thanksgiving we had tatas, succotash and rudebagas..."

Didn't Sylvester the cat used to say 'sufferin' succotash'?

I used to work in a produce section of a grocery store and we called them Ruddy Beggars.

Anyway, there is always Rudy Bagaman, manager of The California Raisins band.
