I had to restring it and tune it...it was a junior model..This one to be exact.

I really like the idea, but i wouldnt want a junior one. I dont want to be spending a ton, but i just want something to mess around with. Anybody have a clue where to get these? Ebay had some odd looking ones...

So is someone who plays a zither a zitherist or a zitherer? Zanzibarbarian?

that one is cool, but too many strings for what i need. maybe just like 24 strings chromatically or something would be fine for me.

My mom has a thing called a harpsichord. It's the same instrument but with a set of keys that act as levers for felt mutes underneath the strings. You can hammer individual strings or strum true chords. On further inspection on wiki, a harpsichord is huge, so I have no idea what it really is or where she got it, but she calls it a harpsichord. She can't really play it, it sits under her bed. I've tinkered on it a few times.

hmm, i liked the zither for the simplicity of the fact that its just single strings tuned to a chord. i was wrong about the chromatic tuning btw. Anyways, it was just simple, and elegent. i dont need chords and keys and such that the harpsichord offers.

see, maybe i could buy that and remove the keys. it looks as if they would come off pretty easy. my only gripe is im paying for a giant part i won't use. i pratically want a cigar box with strings, haha.

They have what you're looking for on there. I thought you wanted grouped strings. They have one that has single strings and no mutes for 50 bucks.

edit: here you go. http://folk-instruments.musiciansfri...ker?sku=518470
