I guess I'm still trying to get a jist of the lingo. Yet another wonderful by-product of TabCrawler

I have a confession to make... I'm really a closet Tabcrawler... at first I just tried using 3's, and using the shift key in conjunction with every other letter, you know, just experiementing. Now it's a serious problem, I used to think Fieldy was a bassplayer, now I'm convinced he's a P3rKusI0NIst. I even threw out all of my jaco albums, only to be replaced with Korn, and Blink 182. I just hope my parents and friends don't find my stash of picks under my mattress...

I'm only joking, I too, use picks, and fingerstyle, and use a bow, or arco. Just a tool in the arsenal. Hey, we're all subharmonic brothers (and sisters) here.
Wonderful technique Chris; find a lone BG'er in the far off DB land, corner him, and pounce. Very nice execution. I can always find great, humerous, and witty comments on this side of the board .

I hope I'll be able to fix it tomorrow... Gotta get some good glue.

It has come to my attention that there are those on the board who feel that this thread is very mean-spirited. I don't really agree, but would like to share some of my reasons, as stated in a PM to the person who notified me of the possible "mean-spirited" aspect:
Re: the whole "TOYBASS" issue... The fact is, I and all but about 3 of the regulars double on BG, and many of us also post on both sides of the board. When we say "Toybass" or "Plank" or "Slab", it's completely ironic condescention because we're busting on our own instrument. I've played BG way longer than DB, and I teach as many BG students as DB students. I'll be happy to post a disclaimer in the thread, but I don't think anyone is being seriously mean - it seems like everyone's just kidding around. I suppose I could be wrong, but...
I'm posting this so that anyone not familiar with the DB side's ironic sense of humor (that's HUMOURIUM for Bruce) will have some context for what's being said in this thread, and why it should not be taken too seriously. If, after reading this, anyone still feels that this thread is out of line, I'll be happy to discuss the issue via PM. (see? SEE? I even posted a SMILEY!)
You may all now resume your curmudgeonly affectations.... |

I spend most of my time on the BG side, since I'm not a DB player, but I like to look in on this side once in a while. Since I'm 36, I find myself shaking my head sometimes when I see a thread like "FiEldY: l33t or P0zr", and wondering what happened to the lost art of English grammar, and what our kids are learning in school.
Edit: corrected my own grammatical error. How ironic.

I drop in here a couple of times a year, pretty much coincides with my visits to the nursing home IRL. Just like there, I try to keep up with what's going on with the old folks
Oh yeah, re: sticky hands... lighten up on the Poly-grip.
