Any live jazz in San Jose, CA?
I will be in San Jose on a business trip in a few weeks.
Are there any live jazz places in the area without driving all the way up to San Francisco or Oakland?

- look for stuff in the South Bay and/or Penninsula sections.
Santa Cruz has
www.kuumbwajazz.org
but it's a drive from SJ.

There's actually some smaller restaurant gig type stuff in SJ. I've never seen any jazz there but heard about it plenty.
Make sure you check the KCSM Jazz 91.1 daily jazz watchamacallit. They list shows and restaurant gigs daily. It's pretty comprehensive and up to date.

If you want to see big time acts, try to make it up to Yoshi's in Oakland.

Smith Dobson, rest his soul, use to hold it down at Garden City. Don't know if they are still doing music.

Thanks for the information. Unfortunately, I was only able to get out one night while San Jose.
I ended up at the Temple Bar on South First Street to hear a jazz jam. They had several young lions playing. It was a fun evening.
