Bluegrass Bass Gigspam

Morning all,

http://www.redwhiteandbluegrassfestival.com

That's where you can see a bunch of bluegrass for free this weekend (July 1-4) in Morganton, NC. My hometown.

I know there was spurt of BG bass threads happening a couple of weeks back and here's where you can get your belly full of a bunch of new BG bassmen (and women), their chops and have plentious opportunities to jam with others as well.

Mountain Heart brings in Jason Moore on bass
Kenny and Amanda Smith brings in Zak McLamb (a monster)
Larry Sparks brings Larry D Sparks (his son and one of Barry Bales favorite influences)
The Grascals bring in Terry Smith (extremely smooth)
JD Crowe brings Harold Nixon

And I'll even be there.

I T ' S F R E E ! ! !

That's a GREAT lineup, Mike! If I wasn't loaded with gigs myself, I'd have to make the drive up there.

Looks like a few things have changed....last time we shared a bill with Larry Sparks, he had Matthew Madden on bass. The Grascals are a great band, too, but I miss Terry Eldredge on bass (I know he's playing guitar now).

Wish you were here...

...Mike Childree. It's going to be fun.

Yep. Matthew Madden left Sparks back in the mid-to-late winter. I saw Sparks at MerleFest and the "new" lineup had jelled a bit better than the report right after D Sparks came back onboard.

I think this weekend is going to be full of 2 things North Carolina is known for in the summertime.

Heat and humidity.

It's alright folks. The basses will be fine, they're all plywood.

And we are professionals...
