Dewey Redman?

Not to be spreading unfounded an all, but I just got an e-mail that Dewey Redman died on the 2nd; anybody else hear anything?

He almost scared me out of NYC; literally the first music I went to hear when I got to the city (2nd night I was in NYC) was Dewey, Anthony Cox and Ed Blackwell at Visione's. It was so deep and so together and so intense; I thought EVERYBODY was gonna be playing like that and I might as well get on back to Georgia...

Sad indeed... he was one of the greats, and one of those rare players that you can identify in just a couple of notes.

Just heard the news. So sad. A local radio show here that plays "non mainstream" jazz is going to do a tribute.

Any chance that they might do a web broadcast?

Bit of a letdown. It was one segment that was part of an episode.

Dewey was amazing, he worked with a ton of great bass players: Donald Raphael Garrett, Malichai Favors, Sirone, Cameron Brown, Fred Hopkins, Mark Helias and Cox as mentioned above.
I saw him play "Lonley Woman" solo alto once, it was incredible.
