Don Lanphere

It is with great sadness that I report that I heard saxophonist Don Lanphere passed away at the age of 75 in Seattle. A bebop master who kept getting better and more creative as he aged. His last cd has an astonishing level of improvising.

He was a great player and above all, a beautiful human being. The times I played with him were highlights of my life. His Obit can be read here .

Oh crap. I loved playing with that guy. He just tore it up, and was a very cool guy to boot. Lost my friend Bill Perkins a couple months back, and now Don Lanphere.
