Or maybe Scottish. Mike Myers says that it's his theory that all Scottish cuisine was based on a dare.

Edit: But in defence of British cuisine, I must say that I could live quite happily on British pub fare, I think. (Although it may be a short life; no comment as to the health benefits.) Full English breakfast, Fish 'n' chips, steak 'n' ale pie, scotch eggs, shepherd's pie, Sunday roast, Cornish pasties, ploughman's lunch, and my favorite: bangers 'n' mash. And, of course, a pint or two of a great local cask ale must go with any of these.

The no. 1 bangers 'n' mash? Served at the Sloop Inn (est. 1312) in St. Ives, Cornwall. Their onion, red-wine gravy is stupendous.

I'm a veggie, but the onion/red-wine gravy made my mouth water! Veggie bangers and mash with gravy is bloody fine food (especially if there's mashed swede too, what the Scots call neeps).

But you're right, British cuisine doesn't win any Health competitions. I didn't realise until recently that I grew up in an unusual family, in that we had salad every evening meal. Some Brits never see salad unless it's clinging for dear life to a burger bun.

Apparently he's Korean - but I love his outfits. Can't say the same for the music.

My wife's relatives live in England; her one Uncle is in St. Ives. We've got a menu from that place on our refrigerator. She concurs about the bangers n' mash!
