-Jon | There is a reason that you have never been down here. It might be because you don't play double bass. Makes sense, huh?
When DURRL arrives, it's gonna be like in Dogma where "God" spoke to the ex-angle/mortal Ben Afleck.
His head will 'splode

And as NICKELPLATED GUNN points out, the reason for that is that you don't play Double Bass. And this, as previously mentioned, is the Double Bass forum. We tend to talk about DOUBLE BASS related stuff down here. Go figure. It's a damned incomprehensible world sometimes, isn't it?
I am just curious as to how people are doing here...after all, they're TB'ers too... Yes, we are TBers too. Many of us are crusty old TBers as well. You might go so far as to say crusty old curmudgeonly TBers. Other than that, and the fact that we all play DOUBLE BASS, we're fine. Thanks for asking.
so what I don't play DB? we still make music... | You'll want to define this proverbial "we" before your statement gains widespread acceptance around these parts, but yes, your point is taken. And it's not like BGers are off limits down here...I mean, Plankspankers gotta start someplace, right? So say, for instance, that a Pork Chop player wanted to find out some information on DOUBLE BASSES or DOUBLE BASS PLAYERS, why, he'd be right welcome to come down and ask away. Or if a Slabber was thinking about buying a DOUBLE BASS, and needed some advice, he'd have come to the right place, no problem.
But if a FLATBASS player just got bored with the pickings up in BGland and decided to mosey on down to the castle and start a thread that had absolutely nothing to do with DOUBLE BASSES, DOUBLE BASS PLAYERS, or DOUBLE BASS ACCESSORIES, why then we'd be......right where we are, asking, "why?".... as in, "why does this thread exist? Does it have a point? If so, what is that point? Is there a reason for this thread to exist, or did somebody just run out of "Poll:WhAt WoOd MaKe A BeTtEr PeT, a VeLoCiRaPtOr Or A lIvInG, bReAtHiNg Mr. PoTaToHeAd DoLl ThE sIzE oF fAt AlBeRt?" type thread ideas?
Because if it's the latter, there's not going to be much time to drink all of that beer everyone has so kindly brought to share.

I do not know why you guys are being so mean...I am just trying to be nice and spread my Bass knowledge,I was actually thinking of taking up DB in a Music Class in school, but if it is going to make me be as mean as you guys...then forget it.
I was going to maybe ask some DB'ers a few questions about how DB and BG are different from playing(fingerstyle, technique and overall feel) and how difficult playign in a school band is...once I got a postive Post or two...
I Dunno why I am getting flamed...geesh!
EDIT: another thing...why are you bringing age into this?

Well by all means, ask all the DB questions you want, that's what the forum is here for. We just like the OT forum down here to be on the quiet side, more like a small neighborhood bar for DB curmudgeons than a nightclub seating 600 people with flashing lights, loud music and a laser show. And you weren't exactly getting flamed - curmudgeonly affectations are an established pastime around here: they kind of help break up the monotony of hearing that same old conversation about how Pops is basically okay rosin, but kind of gritty in the summertime.

It's pretty common, especially if a plank spanking fret wankin' toybasaser comes down here, to get razzed. It isn't hate, it isn't flaming. Its more a way of crusty old curmudgeonly folks of showing affection, and an initiation of sorts.
When I first came down here when I started playing DB, I got it too. I still remember my days as LUBED_ASS_TOY. Don't take it to heart.
So, wait a few years, and then when you are ready, come on down here again | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
