I agree. Perhaps he will one day see fit to return from the Land of Lurk.

I seem to recall other members who have found their way back into the fold . . .

Did Ray leave in a huff? In a minute and a huff?

True dat. Last time he split, he was switching digs, and I Emailed him to make sure he was ok. I'm assuming the same is true now. If you see him, say hi please.

Yep, I for one have enjoyed and was inspired by his playing his helpful advise on bass fingerings techniques, his thoughts and passion for music in general...come back Ray Parker!

I had a look at his calendar and he should be around. Not spotting many Fuqua posts either - I don't get the chance to hang round TB as much at the moment - I was beginging to think Ed and Ray had eloped. Parker posts are a must look on my list and the board is looking a little bleak at the moment. At least Ed's still around.

Been nice.

Its a pretty lengthy thread that featured some strongly held positions. Reading over it will put the above quotes in context.

I agree. He has been absent long enough. That circumstance was an interloper moderator from slabland that for some reason chose to jump in on Chris' turf. I thought that was in bad taste. Apparently the rules of decorum didn't apply there.

Anyhow that is over. I too miss the input. So, Ray I'll be in NYC over Thanksgiving weekend. I'll buy you dinner if you quit this silence thing.

The way I saw it, SMASH wasn't posting as a moderator, but rather as a member who was interested in the topic of conversation. And since that topic was not in any way DB specific, there's no reason a plankspanker should feel unwelcome. If he had been attempting to use moderator admin privileges to edit posts or the like, that would have been out of line. As it was, he was just another member making a point on the opposite side of the coin. As a DB mod with "supermod" access accross the board, I would never use those privileges outside of the DB forum unless asked, or in the case of spammers or porn bombers. That would indeed be in bad taste. But I regularly post opinions in the BG forums, and as far as I know, that's kosher. Honestly, I wish the remark about the usage agreement had not been made, but at the same time, I've seen regular members make those kinds of remarks before many times.

In a way, I feel partly responsible because I was too busy to keep up with most of the threads going on at that time. Had I been around more, I probably would have tried to lighten that thread up before it got to that point. As it was, by the time I got there, it had already been pretty heated for some time. My bad! My day gig is just kicking my tail a lot these days, and I only read about 1/5th of the threads that are going on. I still rely on the "reported post" function much of the time, so don't hesitate to use it if you or anyone sees something starting to get out of hand.

I hope he takes you up on that, as I'd love to see his input return as well. Maybe make it a really GOOD dinner, and we'll be back in business.

Yeah, me too. And I wish I could have that 45 minutes of my life back--much heat, but little light, was generated in those fourteen pages or whatever it was.
