I just became aware of this issue via my luthier. It seems that Gibson Guitar Co. is in very hot water.

That's great, that discussion is on the bass guitar side of TB.

Since the issue is related to the illegal commerce of instrument wood by a large instrument manufacterer, it might be worthy of discussion on the DB side as well.

To me, this just highlights the fact that as individuals, we really need to consider the source of materials used in the instruments we purchase.

Ever seen a container of basses imported from China? I'm told by one person who has, that many of the instruments arrive broken, unusable.

Well, I didn't mean nothin', just pointing out there's already a discussion on the subject.

Meanwhile, I'm playing a 44 year old Swedish bass, my #2 is a 44 year old Guild. Nothing Chinese about either, but no clue where the fretboards came from...
