iphone/blackberry

Ok first off let me say I am not going to buy a first generation iphone or itouch. I will wait a bit to see what they are going to do next hoping for more gigs and better apps. Blackberry's also are very nice phones. I wonder if I will end up with a Blackberry international type phone with and itouch or just a next gen iphone. Who has them out there and what do you think?

I can't believe you would put these in the same sentence. I've got an IPhone and it is not of this earth.

Edit: in all seriousness, what do you want to know?

Slate ran an article on this very topic a couple of weeks ago.

I don't want to talk on the phone, ever, so the new ipod touch with a browser and wireless card looks great, but I am used to my 80 gig ipod and the biggest touch ipod is 16 gigs. I guess we will have to wait until Steve Jobs decides to issue the 160 gig with a browser.

Here is another iphone vs. article:

firstly, if you have a blackberry now, the chances of you being able to sub an iphone depend entirely upon server issues ...

secondly, what excited me about both the iphone and the touch is the idea of using them as wireless music servers. Not. neither will stream music into a wireless system. maybe someday.

i think the iphone is a brilliant idea that just isn't fully developed.

that and at&t. it is a study of what happens when the company with the best customer service collaborates with the one with the worst.

i'd wait.

Exactly, I have AT & T at home now and if I do get a cell part of it will be to get the hell away from them.

I had never heard of iPod touch. Is it basically and iPhone without the phone? Will it run iCal (allowing input, etc)? If so, that would be pretty cool.

My video ipod has ical in it, so I would think that would, but yes, it is an iphone with no phone. It only comes in 8 and 16 gigs for now.

Can you input information into iCal on your video ipod? If not, I'm assuming that you can do this on the ipod touch...I'd love to have a PDA of sorts, but do NOT want a cell phone.

I use a Motorola Q on Verizon. I like it quite a bit even though windows mobile sucks and the thing is quirky and buggy. I like the size of it and the power it has given that size. Its not for everyone, it needs lots of tweaks that are off the books but when done it's pretty good.

I don't know anything about the Iphone, just thought I'd throw that in.

On my ipod (80g classic video) I have to do the ical at home. The other one will have a key pad, you never know whether Steve Jobs has decided we need to do that!

I don't know...my phone has buttons. Too many if you ask me. As long as I can hear people on the other end, I'm happy.

I've got a Samsung Blackjack that does what I need it to do. It syncs to my Yahoo calendar and Outlook and I can access my email. It's cool, but when I grow up I want to get the next generation iPhone. There's no comparison.

thoughts

Now I've messed around with the iphone and I think it is really something. I love the screen. I don't have a problem with the keyboard.
But I instinctually feel that the next gen will be markedly improved. Also with my travel abroad I really need something that I can change sim cards in and use anywhere in the world. For now I'll wait and hope it doesnt' take Apple too long to make something very consumerish more pro.

iphone pro?
