My gypsy jazz trio on the radio...link.

http://www.wunh.org/mp3/wunh-Mon-17.mp3

Ameranouche did another radio show today and for not having played together in a week, I thought it went well. Please excuse the babble between tunes. And the fact that I am still a beginner at the gj thing...

It doesn't start right at the beginning, it's like 1/4 inch scrolled inward. Hope you enjoy.

Xar, your broadcast was the background music today during my planning period at school. I had a student working on another computer in the room. He had a set of headphones plugged into some rap when I started playing your stuff. In a minute, one ear was uncovered. Before long the other was uncovered as well. I took that as a sign he enjoyed your music.

Oh Steve - Now THAT is a warm&fuzzy.
Perhaps that kiddo gave me the best compliment I've ever received. Honestly. Gypsy jazz "winning" over rap?! DAMN! Thank you so very much for sharing this...triumph... and thank you for listening.

Thank you too, mje.

Sounds great . . . Thanks for posting it. You're a little hard to hear in the mix sometimes. Was it a room mic?

Seriously, this stuff sounds really good. Must be fun to play, huh? The banter is alittle rough . . . too bad the DJ wasn't giving you any help . . .

Thanks for listening. It is really fun music and I love to spread it as much as possible. I have a lot to learn yet of the gypsy thing but so far the arse-kicking has been much needed and most beneficial to my playing,

The banter drove me NUTS too, hah. I just edited out all the individual tunes and deleted the non music parts and it'smuch better. :> Yeah, WUNH is set up so the DJ and musicians cannot interact - seems very odd. We didn't know til we got there, hence, no set list, no preparation for what to say... ah well. Yeah, just room mics.

+1 on the fun aspect of GJ. Although I always hankered after a double bass for the jazz gigs I do (big band and small combo) it was only after getting together with some gypsy jazzers that I took the plunge and aquired one. Six months down the line things are going well and my gypsy jazz sextet (3 guitars, violin, bass and drums) did our first paying gig last week and already three more dates have been added on the strength of that one gig. I've been surprised at the interest in this genre of music, perhaps it's the foot-tapping rhythm not often asscoiated with 'jazz' that does it, who knows, but it sure is fun to play.
Great sounding broadcast Tzadik, it sounds very authentic to my ears!

Steve
