My smilies don't jump around

... or roll their eyes, or do anything the active smilies are supposed to do. When I go to ebay and some other sites half the page turns up with little boxes with Xs in them. When I right click on the Ws it's some kind of script that's not showing up. What am I missing or what do I have shut off on my computer that's causing this??? Also, whatever it is that I may have shut off, does that make me less vulnerable to viruses - because my last computer was in real bad virus shape, and this one is still functioning like a dream after a year of abuse.

Any help from you computer guys is appreciated. I have windows XP and Etrust EZ armor (which I think is the greatest virus protection ever) if that helps any in the diagnosis. Thanks.

If it's on a high setting that might be your problem...I think.
