PayPal fee hikes

Seems that PayPal has updated their fee policy.

Here's a link to the PayPal Policy Updates page (login required).

They're going to hose us one way or another. Looks like I'll be discontinuing use of Paypal. There's too big a chance of getting taken advantage of, and it looks like Paypal is making the chance higher.

God Bless, Ray

It's going around... (see the emusic threads) nothing like a "recession" to hose everyone that is willing to be hosed.

Paypal provides a great service. It is pretty much free money, people will use Paypal to buy a cd a lot quicker. I started selling way more cds once I started taking Paypal.
I don't mind them getting a cut. I do try to use the Paypal money I get to buy things with Paypal: emusic, itunes, ebay etc. If Amazon would take Paypal it would be great.

I have issues with PayPal, though I recognize that it's a fairly essential service. It bothers me that they want to reach into my actual bank account rather than just work off of my credit card. I set up that way to be "verified" once, but elected credit card as my transaction type, they changed the setting to default to bank draw. I was furious (not for the first time with them) and removed my checking account information, now they are pushing their policy to say that at some point, it will be my only choice.

I would be thrilled for someone to offer an alternative.

I suspected the recession would bring inflation in it's wake. I've seen it in wholesale prices for the last 6 months. It's now passed to retail and into the service sector. People are trying to make up for lost income, lower, slower cash flows and in these large corporate deals trying to keep investors happy and bring bacon back to the table to increase investor confidence.

Look at your grocery bills, your utility bills, the costs of routine things you buy every week...it's all going up a tick here a tick there. Can't stop it. Blame paypal if you want...and I certainly have issues with the business model...but they are doing like everyone else right now.
