DaXun left Northwestern to teach at University of Texas in Austin, and rather quickly, Peter Lloyd took his post as full time Professor of Double Bass. I'm not exactly sure what's happening up in Minnesota because of it. |

I haven't heard that there has been an audition announced yet for the principal job, althought I did hear that it may be sometime next spring. |

I'm not sure anything "happened" to the guy there; I think Daxun is kind of a special case, and he easily fits into a department with another bass professor (who would, for example, focus on the orchestra side of things while Daxun worked on solo and chamber literature). But maybe a UT student can chime in on this. |

I have some knowledge of what happened but I hadn't heard the final word on it. I will not comment here about what I heard since there was obviously some kind of dispute. I respectfully decline to divulge any hearsay or knowledge of the situation. Just that there is or was one! |

What happened was certainly tragic for Peter. Unfair? Depends on who you ask, I'm sure. Conspiracy? I really doubt it. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
