Piano Reduction?

Saw this as part of the description for some sheet music and thought:
1. You get a discount on a piano if you buy it.
2. You need to get a chainsaw and cut an octave off your piano if you want to play this.

Seriously, what does the term mean?

It's an orchestral score "reduced" for piano.

To be a bit more precise about what "reduced for piano" means, the accompaniment has been rewritten so that it can be played by a single piano player rather than a full orchestra. Very handy with those bass concertos for those of us who will likely never muster an orchestra to back us up in such a performance.
