| RIP Luciano Pavarotti My Grandmother, Rosalie D'Allasandro, lived in Brooklyn or Manhattan from 1905 to 1982. She sang on the radio for her daily bread for a big chunk of that time. She used to gush about hearing his voice in the Met. She introduced me to opera as a little boy and I'll always adore her for that. I think of her when I hear his voice.
There has been much controversy surrounding his life and the last few decades of his career. That must be dismissed now.
The power, majesty, and beauty of that magnificent voice has driven me to tears more than any other.
An era has come to an end.
