If I didn't know you guys I'd say lay off the porn sites....

But no I haven't noticed an increase over here - in fact my firewall seems to have pretty much worked out how to block them all!

fretshop.com gets spoofed all the time. I get mail returned back to .....@fretshop.com every day that was not sent from there.

...and the porn of course.

What mail program do you use? You are a Mac guy right?

I use the Mac Mail program and once you 'train' it to recognize spam it works great.

Pop accounts (or at least some of them) that you pay for seem to get less spam than the freebies from yahoo or hotmail IME. I had to get a yahoo email for my yahoo small business account and it is always jammed with spam. My Earthlink and .Mac accounts are pretty cool though.

Could be the firewall too. I have an Airport wireless router for my apartment and I hear they have a good hardware firewall.

Yep, Mac all the way. But Mail is the one program i could never figure out how to get set up...and since I have a Yahoo account that I pay for (ad free, unlimited storage, a couple of other perks), I wanted to keep that address so people would always know how to find me. If I could figure out how to set up that "Mail" program to combine various aspects of my other accounts, that would be great...but every time I try it, it asks me a bunch of questions I don't know the answers to, like, "is your current mail a POP, DCHOP, NHOP, WYSYWYG, or ROTFLMAO account?", and "if so, what is the server path, username, and administrative password?".

Your honor, I'm just a caveman.

I like Yahoo except for the spam!

I have an old d-link wireless router that requires a password to log on, but I don't know how that figures in. See above pic...

I've tried all kinds of e-mail clients over the years. I also have my own domain. For various reasons, 6 or so months ago I punted everything and went to Google mail (Gmail.) It's a magnificent way to do e-mail. Best spam handling I've seen yet.

I concur. Switch to GMail and buy Google stock. It's also way more logically organized inbox method and their calender is distinctly better than anyone's, including Microsoft.

That company is going places.

It amuses many people that I work with (and me too, if ya get right down to it) that many of the SPAMverts for erectile dysfuntion medication come with a MESSAGE line that reads Anti-ED...

None of us anti-ED around here. We're all ED-friendly. The older ones, anyway...

Something weird is going on with Yahoo and at&t. My calendar was screwed up for a day or two, this morning I got the new at&t home page but when I reloaded it my regular Yahoo homepage came up. I'm using Firefox. I like G-mail alot but can't sync it with the calendar on my phone. Yahoo "Active-Sync was working great up until a couple weeks ago and then it just stopped syncing my calendar. When i tried to resolve the issue, I got passed between Yahoo and at&t so many times I was dizzy. I asked about the spam issue at the same time and got no help from the robotic voice at the other end of the phone. Remember the last time this happened that it cleared up mysteriously, at least mine did.
