Youse young whipperschnappers have it easy! When I waz a boy, we done had no fancy-schmancy cum - pooters! We done had to walk four miles to get on the internet! And then all there was wuz this here box with a handle, and me and smelly, the kid next door, would done take turns spinning dem darn handles so the machine would work. And it wasn't easy to read'n' write'n either. All we done had were those binary codes, ones and zeros. Mind you, we were lucky if we had a zero 'cause we were so poor. I think zeros had just done been 'vented. There wuz a lot of Talk goin' round that zeros were just a fad. I remember that Joe McCarthy said on TV that zeros done were a communist invention. It was the old Beetle Bailey comic strip that made people warm up to Zero. You know, there ain't anything more American than the U.S. Army, an' that's why McCarthy got run out of D.C. It wasn't me because I've never owned a Sunn amp. They're so electric. Also, it wasn't me because, although I'm on the Washington 2Xbasslist, I don't intentionally cause trouble and I don't stir up flame wars. If anything I try to put them out, and if possible, with humor.
I did make one guy mad. I told him that if it weren't for the money then I wouldn't be playing music. I don't care for the 'art for arts sake' mentality. He got real mad and used terrible language. Not to mention bad English.
People don't buy my water colors and baskets don't sell like they did in the good old days. I don't like the food in these hospitals and when I'm on weekend release or for something else I want cheap cheese burgers and fries and they cost money.
Relaxing at the Camarillo,

The Fender P comes out only when nothing else is paying. I don't care for electric bass, they're so hard to play.
Portability is important and making as few trips as possible from the truck to the stage is a very desirable thing.
Personally I'm a Woods man (that's spelled W-A-L-T-E-R). 7lbs and no hernia.
This looks like a fun party. Just remember what Mother Bates always says, "Don't lie and be polite".

I can't see that the number of trips really matters.
Is this the full argument or just the 5 minutes?

I'm not into pain or injury, either. It hurts too much.
My rig w/o ACOUSTIC bass, including, amp, speaker cabinet, bag with patch cords, extension cord, power strip, tool kit, fake books, odds & ends, and snacks weighs just under 50 lbs. I know because the nurse weighed me while I was holding everything then she subtracted my weight from the total. She's brilliant and I'm glad I don't have an SVT.
I put it all on a portable luggage cart with big wheels and use the strap on my gig bag to carry the bass. The only fly in this ointment is the manhasset stand. Sometimes it gets jammed in a door way or it falls off and I have to run.
Does anybody out there use a camel caravan?

2 wire maximum, 1 of which is the power cord.
1 trip from the car.
Hence: wheels; 1 for the bass; 1 airline-type dolly

Ehem, ehm ehrr... never been away, 'cept for that time I got completely flamed about my (to me) very sarcastic post about tubes, and why we (still) use them. One guy went completely over the top by taking my words very personally (calling me names and eh... other things), and I decided to stop posting for a few months.
As soon as the pre-current board was launched I signed up again and have been here a few times a week ever since.
I think I first visited TB back in '99. There were a few dozens of regulars and a few hundred members altogether.
I don't remember anyone making fun of my equipment. It sometimes gets praised, and that pleases me very much. I do remember some people giving me a hard time about using a pick, tho'.
I never post in de DB area. I don't play DB, and there's hardly ever anything here that catches my attention here.
I limit myself to the BG Amps, Effects and Off-Topic forums, cause else it would just take too much of my time.
Thanks again.

Sounds like one and the same.
Nice to know I'm loved.
If you are talking about a real "techy" type who is slightly delusional at times(most of the time) with an SVT that has been modified to crank about a jillion watts out and sounds like angels singing, it's probably him.
I have been disparaged by you from one end of the internet to the other. You have more than made it clear that you don't like what I have to say, so I don't bother you, yet you, in all your superiority, feel the need to berate me even when I have done NOTHING to you.
My technical info is correct, helpful, and dare I say, free for the taking, which also means free for the leaving. Get over yourself. I'm tired of your BS. Oh yeah, howsabout taking a look at your own words and deciding if they apply to you as well as me.
The irony is that he probably could be a valuable member of TB if he could communicate without trying to ram his opinion down anyones throat who disagrees with him.
His absence is much more welcome than his presence on TB as far as I'm concerned.
Pkr2 | Not that I'm particularly thin skinned, but this is at least a forum where I can reply to such a low-down character assassination. Pkr2 seems to favor posting derisions of me in forums where I have been banned thanks to his efforts. Before the moderators snipe this out, I would like to point out that they have left a PERSONAL attack with absolutely NO other info remain posted unchecked for several months and I demand a right to reply.
As to the initial question, no I am NOT the source of dischord in the other thread, but if the other "Psycho" gets treated the way I have, I'm sure he won't like it either. If any of you think I'm just a random flamer or trouble maker, a quick search of my past posts will prove otherwise VERY quickly. You will also see that this is not the first time Pkr2 has decided to vent his personal frustrations on me as well. I'm sorry that I haven't been here to "inflame" Pkr2, but I have been VERY busy working on amps (IMAGINE THAT!) among other things. I don't intend to make replies like this a habit, but I'm have done NOTHING to Pkr2, nor to anyone else to merit such venom here at Talkbass.

This is not dredging on my part. It has been a VERY long time since I have been here and I don't appreciate the fact that a post like Pkr2's was allowed to be here. I know I'm not very popular, but I am tired of the double standard when it comes to me. It may be forgotten to you, but it was new to me, and I do NOT appreciate it. Where was the moderation when I was on the receiving end?
