What Gift For My Bass Teacher?

Since the gift giving time is fast approaching, I was wondering what ideas you might have that I could give my bass teacher. He is in his late 20's and plays for the Nashville Symphony (so he plays only classical). He's been playing for 15 years, so he has almost anything musical you can think of. I know these aren't many details, but I am plain stumped on what to get him!

Oh and BTW, he bought me a really nice $40 hardback copy of the Harvard Dictionary of Music last year. Therefore, I want to give him something really nice this year.

If he doesn't have one yet, a nice quality wooden music stand for his home might be cool (if you want to spend that much).

Any music you dig that you know he hasn't checked out? Give him a CD.

Any musician you admire, he admires? Get him a good biography. Music genre almost doesn't matter in that case.

Feeling evil? Any musician he hates? Make a dartboard.

The best present you could give would be to play your next lesson relatively in tune and without messing up the time too bad.

A Volvo. Definitely a Volvo. Preferably a late model turbo wagon, so as to fit the basses.

The best gift for a music teacher durring the holiday season is paying for the full month whether you will get all the lessons or not.

I saw a brochure where you could donate money in someone's name that would buy musical instruments and art supplies for children in poor third-world villages. I thought that would be a thoughtful present for a music teacher. I'll try to find the specifics and post it here.

You take lessons at his house, I'm assuming? Take a look around and see what he's missing, especially in his practice room. Get him something to fit the mood. It doesn't HAVE to be music-related. Add to his collection of Mini-Easter Island Statues, or get him a new model to build. You'll come up with something, just think outside the box.

I think that's a great idea! I almost think the non-music related gift might even be better than something to do with music. Thanks!
