It's mostly just good fun.
But when John Turner was the DB mod on the other hand - well, I still have recurring nightmares about carrots from that...

However, he reckoned without the rebel upright warriors, all trained in the deadly art of guerilla endpin warfare. Turner's evil forces were defeated, at which point he retreated back to BG Off Topic to plan his successful invasion of Basses. Having beaten their seven stringed foe, the DB clan's leaders, DURRL and the enigmatic DONOSAUR assumed control of the hazardous forum.
So, err, to put it simply - yes, JT was the moderator of the DB forum.

Wow..... When do I get to pull the MAGIC ENDPIN OF DESTINY out of the rock it's been unmovably embedded in for the past few thousand years? |

He's said to be a charismatic leader of men who often speaks in riddles, and of the mystic quest of "Finding the one". According to legend, he will return one day to lead the TABEVIL clan to victory against the enemy - the one known as FiElDy... Ugh, that's the last time I make soup from self-picked mushrooms.

Mushrooms or no, you're talking about Ed, right? And does anybody else find it heartwarming that we end up with a thread down here called "What's with the attitude" when BAD FUNGUS isn't even around all that much?
I know I'm proud of the guys for stepping in and stepping up.... |

At the end of the day, we're all bassists, we all play big instruments, and all of us never get any credit. |

he's saying, in a round about kinda way, that supreme dumbasses inhabit the Bass Guitar forums, and that intellectual elites inhabit the Double Bass equivalent.
i, on other hand, openly question the wisdom of one who's initials may stand for Poo Sex.

The Durrl and the Donosaur
(A tribute)
The Durrl and the Donosaur
Were walking close at hand;
they wept like anything to see
the trolls and their slabs:
"If this were only cleared away,"
They said, "It would be grand!"
"If seven luthiers with seven saws
Worked for half a year,
Do you suppose," the Durrl said,
"That they could get it clear?"
"I doubt it," said the Donosaur,
And shed a bitter tear.
"O trolls, come and learn with us!"
The Durrl did beseech.
"A pleasant walk, a pleasant talk,
Along with our DBs:
We won't do more than walk in four,
To give a chance to each."
Four young trolls hurried up,
All vying for the lanes:
Their coats were brushed, their faces washed,
their wit was blunt as canes--
And this was odd because you know,
They hadn't any brains.
"The time has come," the Durrl said,
"To talk of many things:
Of bows and amps and laminates,
of pockets, grooves and swings--
And why hide glue is boiling hot
And what FiElDy named his strings.
"But wait a bit," the Trolls cried,
Before we play our slabs;
For some of us are out of breath,
And all of us read tab!"
"No hurry," said the Donosaur.
They thought he was quite fab.
"Intelligence," the Durrl said,
"Is what we chiefly need.
Posts of tolerance and respect
Are very good indeed!
Now if you're ready, trolls dear,
We can begin to feed."
"But not on us!" the trolls cried,
In the middle of their pranks.
"For stirring up your musty halls
We deserve some thanks!"
They shook and tried to hide behind
Their multicolored planks.
"It seems a shame," the Durrl said
"To play them such a trick
After we've brought them out so far
And made them learn so quick!
The Donosaur said nothing but
"The rosin's spread too thick."
"O trolls," said the Donosaur
"You've had a pleasant run!
Shall we be trotting home again?
But answer came there none--
And this was scarcely odd because,
They'd deleted every one! |
