$25 for legit Bad Horsie Wah, Great deal?

Sign in to disble this ad
So a security guard at my school is selling his guitar stuff.

He is offering a Steve Vai Bad Horsie Wah (No clue if 1 or 2 or if it has contour) for $25 bucks, this is practically a 75% discount from the cheapest models price!

Any one have some personal experience with the following...
- How it meshes with a bass and a EHX Big Muff Pi
- Sturdiness
- Issues (Guy on Musicians friend said his pops when it dis/engage)
- Controls, I probably won't get it in it's box with manual etc, so what are the controls and what do they do.

I use a fender Jazz with Dimarzio Model J's, Squier P, and a GK half stack.
My playing style incorporates Cliff Burton, Steve Harris, "Geezer". Generally I play metal, punk/old hardcore, pop punk, harmonistic strumming, and a bit of funk / slap / jazz.

Is this a steal?

For 25 bucks, if it works, who cares? If you don't like it, sell it for 50...

$25 for a first generation Bad Horsie is Ok, close to a good deal, unless it has defects. Just check out the sweep, it's not as pointed out as with other wah-wahs, and the middle section has more variations so you need to be light on the foot. --Kent

So Bad Horsie < Bad Horsie 2 (Ignoring all the cool knobs etc and just going by sound and tracking etc)?

If it is a Bad Horsie 1 it will have no EQ/Volume correct?
What are the knobs on Bad Horsie 2 I can't tell.

I think I'm going to go for it... Hell selling it for 50 is a sweet deal too.

the only difference between the 2 is the bh2 is adjustable if you click off the controls it's the same as the bad horsie 1

You are going to have low end loss and it probably won't be worth it for bass. Sell it for $50 to a guitarist. I bought a bh2 during my naive pedal purchasing stages. Really great wah, but the low end loss is very annoying. Wish guitar center had more BASS wahs.

If you like it, make or buy a clean blend to get your low end back. Not a big deal.

or mod it with a different cap, so that you don't lose the low end.

I pretty much play with all the bass settings on full boost and most likely will use it with my big muff (tone at bass) so should that be enough to counteract it?
