1 r.u. compressor/crossover candidates please

Looking for a 1 ru compressor and crossover that can fit nicely between a Read pre and a power amp. Basic old school finger style, flats, modest compression for when this old man gets a little too excited and digs in a bit too deep . I'm quite happy w/my mini rig td 100 -> tla 50 if that helps. A quick search shows these candidates in no particular order:
dbx 166, Rane DC24, Ashly CLX-52
any others to consider?

if you don't really need the crossover I would recommend the DBX 163x. Excellent unit for not a lot of $. Great on bass!

The RNC (really nice compressor) worked well for me as well.
