1290 Supercollider

Sign in to disble this ad
this is from myspace:

Version 2 of the Supercollider is on the way. The new version will ditch the mids switch in favor of a knob for more control over the tone. This will be available in the standard SC size or a smaller MXR sized enclosure. Click on the new pic for a preview.

Check the blog in the coming days for pre-order info and other important news.

-Mark

i asked him the name for the small version, this is the reply:

"No official name yet. Maybe the 1290 Supercollider (1290 is the manufacturer's code for the size)."

and this is his last email to me:

Hello Manex,

Unfortunately I'm going to need a bit more time for your pedal. I finally finished the graphics/layout but there is still some work to be done on the pcb and then I have to etch it. Also I'm still waiting for some supplies that will hopefully show up Saturday (Friday is a postal holiday in the U.S.) I'm looking at Tuesday or Wednesday for a definite ship date.

I put together a little graphic in Photoshop to show the small box layout for the announcement that I'm attaching to this email. The grey lines around the knobs and LED bezel are just there to show their shape. Of course the real thing will look even better. I included the approximate dimensions so that you can make enough space on your board.

The image from that forum is the large box version of Supercollider V2. I'm still finishing up the graphics for that one but both the large and small boxes will have the same circuit.

Take care, I'll be in touch.

-Mark

mine will be the first one! #001

can't wait!!!

I was just thinking yesterday that I wished he would build it in this size enclosure so I would have more space on my Pedaltrain Jr. But I already have the original - damn and blast!

Small footprint is the way to go -- big boxes with lots of open space are the suck... relatively speaking.

That layout could cause a problem for some people though. The power input is right next to the jack, and there's a knob right above it. If you've got chunky right angle patch leads they'll have to point up in the air instead of being able to lie them flat. Another plus for the Pedaltrain + George Ls combo then.

before i did my order, i asked him if its possible to make the IN/OUT on top of the big pedal because i don't have much space left on my board. but instead he offered me if i wanted the small one because he's on the process of making it. so i went for it, its small and its for sure the same sound and specs. but aside from the small enclosure he changed the mid switch to mid knob which is according to him is more versatile.

from his email to me:

"Last night I finalized the values for the Mids control and it definitely kicks the **** out of the toggle switch. So much more versatile."

so my pedal will be #001

i've no problems with the layout because i use George L cables.

I'm liking the new smaller pedal. Is the pricing going to be the same for this option?

You know, for some reason I think I like the larger version of that pedal better. Maybe because it looks less cluttered, but whatever it is, I think I'm going to order a v2 Supercollider in the original enclosure.

Yup i got mine on monday. it's not the mini version, but the size of the original one with the mid-button. this thing retains low end perfectly. never have i played a fuzz pedal that just absolutely kills it on the low end. to me....this is a big muff killer. it even smelt like fresh paint out of the box haha. this thing rocks!

Hmm, another contender for my next gain pedal. Fuzz? is it. All out fuzz, or just over the top distortion?
